PayPlans 4.0 Timeline & EasyDiscuss 4.1.2

Today, we would like to share a quick rundown on PayPlans 4.0, as many ones had approached us on this matter. We thought it would be more appropriate to properly address this after the release of EasyDiscuss 4.1.2, read on to learn more. 

Why the delay?

First and foremost, we would like to sincerely apologize for this delay after the last progress update made in April 2018. We were slightly behind schedule which is simply due to the complexity involved behind revamping and simplifying the existing codebase inherited from its original developer, working back and forth, breaking and amending the codes which in itself is really time consuming. 

Then comes GDPR, considering the importance and urgency of GDPR implementation across all of our core products, with the limited resources we have, left us no choice but to delay PayPlans 4.0 development temporarily, to spend time on addressing GDPR as our utmost priority.

The next milestone left on our pipeline for GDPR update involves Komento, PayPlans and EasyArticles which is exactly what we are working on right now.

Why is GDPR so complicated?

Just some heads up to those who aren't aware of the complications of GDPR. It isn't just the cookie banner that you see on every site, it's a whole different aspect altogether. For instance in Art. 20 of GDPR, it states the following:

The data subject shall have the right to receive the personal data concerning him or her, which he or she has provided to a controller, in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and have the right to transmit those data to another controller without hindrance from the controller to which the personal data have been provided

Because of that, we need to ensure that users who are using our software on your site, to have at least the ability to download data that you have about them. Although it can be requested by users manually, you are going to have a hard time generating the data that you have about them. Instead of waiting for Joomla to produce a platform which allows plugins to have a central download system, we couldn't wait any longer and took matters into our own hands until Joomla is ready (I believe it will be in Joomla 3.9)

PayPlans 3.7 will open the pathway for PayPlans 4.0, which also includes GDPR compliance and other minor bug fixes. At this point of time, we are 50% into PayPlans 4.0 development, as we still do not have a definite ETA for PayPlans 4.0 but do expect to see an Alpha release in the coming months.

What's in for me?

To make up for the unprecedented delay, PayPlans 4.0 Alpha and Beta releases will be available to all PayPlans subscribers, irregardless whether your subscription has already expired or active, we truly believe that PayPlans 4.0 will not disappoint you. We hope that this short post will shed some light into our current circumstances and limitations openly.

EasyDiscuss 4.1.2

Two days ago, the immediate release of EasyDiscuss 4.1.2 was made available. This critical update is mainly to address the SEF router issue that unable users to access their discussion posts from the single category page.

Upgrading from EasyDiscuss 4.1.1 to EasyDiscuss 4.1.2 is rather straightforward. All you have to do is hit the Update Now button found at the back-end of EasyDiscuss dashboard. Otherwise, for those who are still running on prior to EasyDiscuss 4.1.2, kindly download the full installer found on your dashboard and run the installation like you normally would.
