Joomla Update System on our extensions

I know it's a little late but Happy New Year folks and it's really good to have you back with us. It is yet again a priviledge for us to help you to achieve your next milestone for 2017.

To start off, we have updates across all of our Joomla extensions which includes bug fixes, new features and lastly implementation of native Joomla update notifications to all our Joomla extensions. Please refer to the change logs for more details.

How should i perform the upgrades?

For the benefit of those who are rather new to our products, upgrading our Joomla extensions are pretty simple and straightforward:

Head on over to your dashboard to download these updates and install it just like how you initially installed the extension.

If you are using any prior version of these our extensions, kindly update to the latest version as quickly as possible.

Additionally, the releases today will now utilise the native Joomla update notifications as well. When any of our extensions are out of date, the global notice would appear in your Joomla control panel.

New addition to the Apps store for EasySocial

We are also excited to be announcing 2 newly released blog apps added to our apps store today! To recap, these are the apps that are released in our App Store this week.

Page Blog App

This app enables page admin or page owner to compose and associate blog posts for their pages on EasySocial. These blog posts would appear on the activity stream as well as under the blog section within the page itself.

Event Blog App

This app enables event admin or event owner to compose and associate blog posts for their events on EasySocial. These blog posts would appear on the activity stream as well as under the blog section within the event page itself.

PlayStation Network App

This super cool gaming centered app basically fetches all recent activities on PlayStation Network such as gaming activities, shared screenshot, accepted friend requests and many more on to user profile's stream. In addition, it also showcase trophies achievements on your profile page.

This will definitely be a +1 for those with a gaming community on their site. What's more, we are thinking about implementing other games in the future, so if you have a game in mind do share with us. :)

Profile Unlocker App

This feature was funded by Jean-Marc and we really appreciated initiatives like this and supporting what we do. This nifty app automatically unlocks the different profile types available on site whenever a user collected sufficient points.

This is configurable from the app itself and the unlocked profile achievements would appear on the activity stream as well.

25% Discounts On Renewals

Before i forget, you can now get hold of 25% discount on renewals for the next 3 days only with the coupon code below upon checkout. Have a great weekend guys! :)

Sorry
Could you propose an application to integrate EasyDiscuss with EasySocial Pages and Events?
Effectively on the model of Group Discussion App, and recently as Page Blog App and Event Blog App.
Thank you.

If there is enough requests for it, we'll consider adding those apps

Okay.
Without these two applications, the puzzle will remain incomplete. It would be unfortunate and inconsistent.

its always been that way as far as i know. you buy a license and they support one domain. so an update script would only support that one domain. if you wanted to run it on other domains not sure on there rules about multi domains but if you can run it on multiple domains in the pro version. the main domain would be able to just run upgrade. but any others you would have to manualy upload the package and it would update. as long as you dont delete the component first it would just...

We do not restrict your installations. In short, you can install it on as many websites as you want with the exception that your other domains are unsupported and it will not be able to utilize our API services.

You can still download the full package and install it. It'll still work.

Correction, you can download the full package and install it through Extensions Manager

Hello Shane,

You would need to use the full package and install it through Joomla's Extension Manager. The launcher package will be restricted to your registered domain in your license.

If you have changed your site, you can contact us to update the domain.

P/S: When you download the full package, it also contains the latest launcher as well.

Re: the PlayStation Network App, it's mentioned:

Does this mean the PlayStation Network App works only for one particular app used on PlayStation or does it mean you may support another gaming system like Xbox?

The app only works for PlayStation related activities, games and trophies.

We are considering adding an Xbox app since there is an unofficial xbox api from http://xboxapi.com/ . The drawback is the API isn't free though.

Just want to know with the page blog app, in the demo images it doesn't look like you can images when creating a blog post as a page.

Is this correct? Would love to be able to blog posts on easyblog with images that have been created by an easysocial page or event.

Thanks Adam

Hello Adam,

Currently, the app doesn't render the page's albums in your media manager. This enhancements would need to be done from EasyBlog instead.

This is something which we are looking at with the new media manager in EasyBlog 5.1

Regarding the Profile Unlocker App, can it upgrade your Joomla usergroup? When editing a profile type it says "Specify the default user groups for users who registers under this profile type". I'm not sure if this means it only displays those types of users and higher instead of changing a user's Joomla user group. The reason I'm wondering about this is to see if permissions can be unlocked. Take for example if I had a wiki site and wanted only contributing members who received a certain number of points to be able to edit all wiki pages (via users in a specific usergroup). Ultimately this idea I mention is for security purposes, but of course can be used to encourage contributions too.

As always, I appreciate the upgrade and hard work you guys do. Great to see more Stackideas apps coming out.

Yes provided that the profile type is associated with the user groups in Joomla accordingly

Consider this scenario:

1. Profile type A (Associated with Registered Joomla user group)
2. Profile type B (Associated with Author Joomla user group)

If you switch from profile A to profile B, your user group changes to Author too.

This is great news! If Profile type A is a Joomla admin and unlocks Profile type B (which doesn't have admin associated), will that admin suddenly no longer be an admin? I bring this up for admin posters who also contribute to the site.

Hi, there is an issue in the update notification for ES

You are running on an older version of EasySocial.
Installed version: 2.0.9 Latest version: 3.0.10

After the updatethe notification displays the correct version:

Great! EasySocial is up to date
Installed version: 2.0.10 Latest version: 2.0.10

Thanks for the input on this Supporter and it is actually done on purpose because there was a bug in the launcher prior to 2.0.10. The way our javascript compares for version is incorrect prior to 2.0.11 (which isn't out yet).

Since we use semantic versioning, comparing using will not work because 2.0.9 is > than 2.0.10. The only way to solve this bug is to set a higher major version.

In a way, we are creating a good bug to solve a bad bug Thank you for reporting by the way.

There was some mention of EasySocial 2.1 development being underway.

Can you provide some insight so we know what to expect as far as new features or improvements?

I'm sorry to insist Mark. But to convince you of the need for Page EasyDiscuss App, just observe the current EasySocial Pages.
The Discussions application already exists, it proves that you yourself feel that this tool is necessary.
But for those who make the choice to use EasyDiscuss (because more efficient and successful), so it lacks the application to integrate EasyDiscuss in the Pages.

I am extremely pleased that you suggested Blog Page App and Event Blog App, I was waiting for them....

I am extremely pleased that you suggested Blog Page App and Event Blog App, I was waiting for them. But I am very disappointed that you are not proposing anything to integrate EasyDiscuss into the Pages.
A year ago I decided to suspend the progress of my project because it lacked some functionality to your software. I preferred to wait rather than propose a non-functional site.
But now, all planets are almost aligned. Your softwares are ripe.
The only thing that will block me will be the lack of EasyDiscuss in Pages.

I realize that many people have to ask you for specific features, sometimes so specific that it is not worth it, not profitable enough.
But here I am only asking for something that you are already proposing in some way.
EasyDiscuss is much more successful than EasySocial's native Discussions application. EasyDiscuss deserves to be well integrated with EasySocial, and to have the same treatment as EasyBlog, no ?

Thank you. (That was my pleading )[img][/img]

I appreciate that you are being persistent for this functionality but I would strongly suggest that you start a new thread on the chat zone and garner suggestions / feedback from other customers as well.

As much as we want to build the app, we also need to prioritize the needs of majority of our users. I hope you understand where we are coming from in our perspective.
