Profile Unlocker App

Profile Unlocker App

It's been only about a week since the start of this brand spanking new year and we have just released a new app on our app store. This was a feature funded by Jean-Marc Burri and he insisted on pushing this out as an app instead of adding it to the core.

The Team and I would like to express our gratitude in making things happen!

When we accepted this challenge, our primary goal was to challenge ourselves in creating an app with zero hacks done towards EasySocial and to demonstrate how extensible the apps in EasySocial can be if one really devote their time in building a super awesome app.

The strength of this app isn't just the app itself but the profile types that comes with EasySocial. You could give specific access control (limitations) to different profile types and your social network site could now reward users when they reach a certain points threshold that is defined by you. You can define as many thresholds and profile type linkage as you want.

When a user reaches the threshold, their profile type will be immediately upgraded to the profile that you specified. It also generates a notification for the user along with an activity stream item as a motivation to other users so that they would generate more activities on the site. Here are some screenshots of the app in action.

I will keep this post as short as possible to make way for some super exciting news soon! Do check our blog constantly as there are tons that we would like to share with you in the coming weeks including the upcoming PlayStation Network app, Conversekit, Echo Template, EasySocial 2.1 and EasyBlog 5.1 :)

thanks for that great app !
is this synchronized with the user type show in kunena forum (for those who use this forum...) ?

It is for user's profile type. Not sure what kunena displays but I believe it could be the user group?

kunena display his own field based on user number of messages

If that is the case, I don't think this app would be able to change that because this app only changes profile types on EasySocial.

Great addition! This will make points more useful in terms of gaining the enthusiasm of the community to unlock abilities through out the site. Lots of potential here. With a little bit of PHP code you could even manage non ES permissions of various site items such as forum views and certain menu actions.

Yep, exactly I am pretty excited over the PSN app which will be out really soon too as it showcases how one could render custom views from EasySocial.

Thanks for the input but if the app wasn't developed by us, how much would you pay a developer to build this functionality? Compare the costings and let me know if $49 is still expensive.

P/S: Don't forget that you are paying for it once only. No renewals whatsoever.

Hi Stackideas Team & Jean-Marc Burri

This looks like a really good idea.
But it is hard for me to justify the price tag for this at the moment. Butttt....

If there was some way to integrate this with a Payment Gate Way such as Hikashop?

@ Jean-Marc Burri what do you think about a discounts in a shop for points function!?!

Then I would very, very, very tempted to take the plunge

all the best

Paul

Hi Mark & Jean-Marc Burri

Also wondering if the following were possible.

User gain points and get their “Profiles Types” upgraded right.

Please correct me if I am wrong but it is possible to associated a particular “ES Group” with a particular “Profiles Types”

e.g. user profile ABC is associated with group 123
e.g. user profile DEF is associated with group 456
e.g. user profile GHI is associated with group 789

This would mean that users could get user profiles upgraded & change...

In short yes.

You can define which groups are assigned to a profile when a user achieves a new profile through earning points he will get reassigned to a new profile which has/can have different groups assigned.

Hi Mark & Jean-Marc Burri,

Thanks for the App. I think that more people would definitely buy it if

(1) It Has an additional option to change profile type based on badge ID.
(2) It has an option to change profile type based on a combination of badges (using badge IDs).

Mark, are you guys able to add these functionalities and soon?

Thanks,

Abi

This app is based on user points and not badge achievements

This is an awesome addition!

QUESTION: So to clarify, when the user registers for the site, there is a specific profile type available that they can sign up, but there are hidden profile types that are not shown at registration, that can only get approved based on the member achieving a certain level of user points?

  1.    Randall McCallum

Yes, that is possible Randall. You would just need to configure those (hidden) profile types to NOT be available during registration.

Thank you When there are enough feature requests requested by paying customers, we will consider adding watermarks. It wouldn't make sense if we add this feature and non of our paying customers are using it.

Hi Mark & Jean-Marc

Maybe this is insane but in light of the recent Hikashop integration I am wondering about this.
So there is the Stackideas App and at the Hikashop end there is this:
https://www.hikashop.com/support/documentation/325-userpoints-payment-method.html
Buy a symbolic product in Hikashop lets call it “Learn Editing in A Group”
Get awarded points e.g. 1000 points…
Set Profile Unlocker up so that any one with 1000 points plus gets access to a hidden group called “Learn Editing...
