EasySocial 2.2.3 Released

EasySocial 2.2.3 Released

Today, we would like to announce the availability of EasySocial 2.2.3. This update addresses a possible issue with the login form in the administrator area when 2 factor authentication was enabled.

It was brought to our attention by one of our customers, who found a flaw which allows the possibility of bypassing the two-step authentication. EasySocial 2.2.3 also includes the usual bug fixes, minor enhancements and some cool features which we'll go through shortly.

Brand New Akismet App

Akismet App at the back-end

We would like to introduce a brand new app that helps you eliminate spams from users or automated bots. The app would connect to Akismet's database in search for possible spam from populating your social site.

In addition to the brand new Akismet app, the updated CleanTalk app now supports conversations filtering as well, talk about double spam-protection eh?

Event Calendar Menu Item

Calendar layout from the front-end

Not only this handy app looks very similar to EasyBlog's calendar layout, but site admin can now add a menu item for event calendar layout as shown in the screenshot above.

Brand New Hashtag Module

Hashtag module

This nifty feature allows admin to showcase the number of hashtags and then position it wherever they see fit, which also means users are able to enjoy hassle-free search related to any particular hashtag.

 Updated Registration Type

Option to select require user confirmation & admin approval

In EasySocial 2.2.3, admin has the option to choose "user confirmation and admin approval" type for their registration. If enabled, the new user would receive an email confirming their application, which then also requires admin approval as well.

 Toolbar Color Settings

Toolbar color settings at the back-end

This was one of the feature requests included in EasySocial 2.2.3, admin now have the freedom to set the toolbar color from back-end settings effortlessly, which comes in handy if the default color doesn't suit the entire color scheme of the site.

Updated Search Bar

Site admin can now set the minimum character at the search bar starting from EasySocial 2.2.3, this is simply to narrow down the item searched, especially for words that are case sensitive.

Other Admin Perks

Apart from that, we have also added email notifications to be sent to users whenever their videos encoded successfully. Not to mention, admin can now create template overrides for plugins from EasySocial 2.2.3 onward.

Updated Apps

Not forgetting, below are some of the updated apps included in this update:

Upgrade to EasySocial 2.2.3

If you don't already know by now, upgrading to EasySocial 2.2.3 is fairly simple and straightforward. For sites that are already running on EasySocial 2.2.x, hit the single click updater found at the back-end. Otherwise, you may download the full package installer found on your dashboard and run the installation as you normally would.

Feel free to contact our support team should you require any assistance with your upgrades. Don't forget to also check out our changelog to view the full list of changes made. Stay tuned & happy update folks! :)

Hi SI Team, stupid question To what items can Hash tags be applied? Videos? Blog Posts? etc?

They are currently not based on any intervals. It's a trending module based on overall usage of hashtags on the site.

Hello Mark and your team,

I can't tell thank you enough about hashtag module (linked to our private discussion). It's a very good first try and it's open some large possibilities for the next releases (geolocation, timing, easyblog, easydiscuss, komento, easyarticles, joomla ...)

As you know, I am waiting something about "sidebar dashboard" and easysocial apps menu module for displaying everywhere. I hope in the next release. :D

Today, you make my day and thank you so much.

Thank you Tony, some of the features on the feature request are also progressively being added :)

Stay tune for more!

Hi Mark, and the team. Thanks for another good update! You're powering ahead on all fronts. Glad to read other feature requests are in the pipeline. I have my fingers crossed for 2 in particular: (1) having all photos and all videos showing under the global photos and videos menu item and widget views https://stackideas.com/forums/how-to-show-all-photo-albums-under-the-albums-menu-link so I dont have to constantly explain why they dont to my users and ask them to double post their content,...

Agree with Tony Boutemeur !

It’s so much power to be done for Joomla hashtags regarding to possible tags hierarchical nesting menus, multilanguage, locations and integrated with other Joomla components too.

Imagine where you also could set up a filter (search) module for filtering all these integrated Stackideas (Joomla) components! :) WOW!

Filtering hashtag module with selection/filtering with regards to:

1. Language

2. Location

3. Specific Joomla/Stackideas component with integrated blogs, videos, photos, events, discussions, etc hashtag system.

I think also that Google wold love these hashtags optimised SEO sites and make a SERP boost to those Joomla Stackideas sites.
