Hi,

I suggest to improve the behavior for ED Group App because the actual one is not user friendly.

Bellow I explain the improved behavior for ED Group App, depending on Group privacy. Some of them are available, other are not, but i wanted to explain the "big picture". Let's start.

Public Groups (with or without moderation to join)

1. When a user create a discussion in a Public Group type, the discussion must follow the group privacy and this mean it must be public, if the website administrator choose to generate a stream http://take.ms/d0tRr then the stream must be public too.
2. The discussion must be also displayed in User Discuss app , because is his discussion and he owns the content.
3. The discussion is displayed in My Posts Layout menu item from ED so, this means that if you don't display it in User Discuss App the user will be confused because the number of discussions created will be different. (ED My Posts Layout menu item VS. User Discuss App) and on top of that, he can't tell what discussion was posted in groups and what question are posted in his profile or ED component (same thing). Given the fact that the user has a Discussion menu in his User profile, suggest that he can access all his discussions in his profile instead of accessing the ED - My Posts Layout menu item and this must not create confusion to the user.
4. The discussion must be also displayed in ED component - Recent, Forum, Category under his name but using the Group Mini Header and by doing this it will be no need for an extra menu item in ED Toolbar called Group because is creating confusion. Same menu everywhere... Groups in ES toolbar, Groups in User profile, Groups in ED toolbar.
5. The modules (like ED - Recent Discussions and so on) must display the discussions posted in this groups types.

Private & Invite only Groups

a. When a user create a discussion in a Private or Invite Only Group type, the discussion must follow the group privacy and this mean it must be private, if the website administrator choose to generate a stream then the stream must be private too.
b.The discussion must be also displayed in User Discuss app, because is his discussion and he owns the content, but respect the group privacy. Must be hidden for those users who are not enrolled in the group in which he posted the discussion.
c. The discussion is displayed in My Posts Layout menu item from ED (this is available) so, this means that if you don't display it in User Discuss App the user will be confused because the number of discussions created will be different. (ED My Posts Layout menu item VS. User Discuss App) and on top of that, he can't tell what discussion was posted in groups and what question are posted in his User profile or ED component (same thing). Given the fact that the user has a Discussion menu in his User profile, suggest that he can access all his discussions in his profile instead of accessing the ED - My Posts Layout menu item and this must not create confusion to the user.
d. The discussion must be also displayed in ED component under his name, using the Group Mini Header, but available only to members enrolled in the group where the discussion was posted. By doing this it will be no need for an extra menu item in ED Toolbar called Group because is creating confusion. Same menu everywhere... Groups in ES toolbar, Groups in User profile, Groups in ED toolbar.
e. In this groups types, the modules (like ED - Recent Discussions and so on) must display the discussion posted only to members enrolled in the group where the discussion was posted, along with the discussion posted from User profile or ED component (same thing)

The good thing is that, in all the possible scenarios the URL is the same so the changes will never harm the SEO, but there is something tricky. When the Group Owner/ Admin decide to delete (or Reject the discussion if this app will obey to Post Moderation which, by the way, it should) a Group Discussion, created with ED Group App, what is happening with the discussion? This is simple, the discussion is deleted only from that group along with the stream created if the settings is set to ON on ED Group App and will remain in User Discuss App & ED component and will be applied the user privacy. In addition, the discussion will no longer use the Group Mini Header, it will use the User Mini Header. In this way, the user never lose his content when other people decide in his place.

Important: In to no circumstances, the Group owner or the Group Admin, will not be allowed to edit the content of the discussion

You can include also the discussion association with a group/page/event when a user creates a discussion using the ED Form or User Discuss App. When a discussion is created from, let's say a Group page, then the association is made by default with that group. Same thing for events and pages.

Isn't this, a friendly user experience? I hope I explained this well and I made you understand my point of view. It was hard work for me to do this, so please, read it carefully to not interpret wrong some words or phrases. Thank you for your patience.

If I missed something or you think my proposal is not good or anything else, please debate.
