ConverseKit 1.1.6 is Available Today

ConverseKit 1.1.6 is available today. In this release, we have addressed an important security vulnerability involving unrestricted file upload and we strongly advise anyone who are using prior releases to update to this version the soonest possible.

This release includes a critical security fix and several other fixes:

  • Fixed issue with file attachments not respecting settings from EasySocial which leads to possible unrestricted file uploads.
  • Fixed issue with missing Font-Awesome icon.
  • Fixed issue with OpenStreetMap not working on ConverseKit.
  • Updated Facebook icon in Conversekit.

Updating ConverseKit

To update ConverseKit to the latest version, head over to your dashboard area and download the installer. Then, upload it just like how you install any plugins on your Joomla! site. Rest assured that the data will remain intact.

hi there when will we see Giphy ?

It will be soon and we have something else lined up for ConverseKit 2.0 as well

I stopped my ConverseKit subscription, because I find it very expensive considering the very few updates that you offer.
Initial version 1.0.3 in January 2017. In January 2020 we are only at version 1.1.6 ! No major improvements or new features.
The changelog of Conversekit is very very thin.
So $80 a year is very expensive.
Why is this extension not simply an EasySocial Apps, payable only once ? This would be much more consistent.
Thank you

We cannot release ConverseKit as a one-time off app because it is actually a pretty complicated system on it's own. When it requires an update, there are quite a number of man-hours involved.

We have exciting updates coming up with ConverseKit 2.0 which we will be sharing more soon

Could ConverseKit be included in the bundle ?

Unfortunately we cannot include ConverseKit in the bundle

it's about few bucks and the support here is included. The 30% reduction seems fine for me. So long use customers get off. If stackideas got more budget, the faster it will develop solutions, which is a benefit for us all.

Thank you for the input and your continuous support Joy!

Unfortunately I understand what Philippe is saying.
Sad to say, but with no roadmap and so few updates, for most customers its seems cheaper to forgo the annual discount and only buy when a new version comes out.
(Obviously the contra is that, without subscriptions, there is no budget to maintain or upgrade the product. )

....sometimes you don't get what you pay for
Our experience with other (non-Stackideas) developers hasn't been good and you get pretty frustrated when you pay to help...

Our experience with other (non-Stackideas) developers hasn't been good and you get pretty frustrated when you pay to help fund the development, only to find that non-contributors get a better deal than you do.
For example, we paid (funded?) over $300 to a company for a product with zero updates for more than 2 years!
We didn't need support but critical updates were needed to the product.
When finally there was a new release, it came out just after our latest subscription ended. So we had to pay again whilst brand-new subscribers who had contributed nothing, got a 20% discount!!!
That kinda leaves a bad taste in your mouth and makes you think "I will pay when there is something worth paying for"

....but in our experience, Stackideas actually IS different!
Stackideas have proven themselves time and time again, and so deserve our trust and support.
Yes, we moan and groan a lot, but we know we are getting the best!

So now we just renew everything (we use virtually every Stackidea's product) and forget about the update cycles.
Good things will come when they come
(although a high-level roadmap for Conversekit will be nice )

a roadmap would be really great. Not in detail but like " March focus on Update (Easyblog, Native App) so we can see, that something is going on. The regulary blogs are ways better, but with a small roadmap like jomsocial it would be a benefit for the customer.

Yes I would also like to know your roadmap

We do not have roadmaps, our roadmap is our blog where we post features and updates

In my opinion, having a roadmap with features that never gets implemented is almost as good as misleading a customer.

In short, we prefer to use the blog to share our definite progress instead of misleading customers and ourselves.

I've renew my subscription for ConverseKit last year to update from 1.1.4 to 1.1.5. After that, the hole year i received no update and now, my license has expired on 6 feb 2020 and guess what, i need to pay again for one update without having any guarantees that there will be other updates in the near future. More than that, this update is made for security reasons and you must make it, otherwise, you must disable the plugin, because this is the recommended thing to do.
This is not cool,...
