Hey there,
due to your outstanding update to 1.4 I decided to update as well and made the update for my backup first. I recognized that there are some problems with the EasyDiscuss app. I see no icon at the stream input box.
Additionally I have again no categories to select. I had this problem before but unfortunately I have no clue what modifications had to be made because it got fixed from you here:

I am not sure which file you have to fix, but it is important that I can go with the fix here as well and I hope I can go on using this modified discuss.php for the latest version:
