Are you aware that a lot of people are having database errors after upgrading.

1. can't access menu's
2. Getting white screen
3. can't login to admin area
4. getting error messages on different pages

Do you mean the upgrade to 3.7? I have performed several upgrades from our end and they seem to be working just fine.

  1. rachel

Hey, yes the latest upgrade to 3.7

I had an error so I went to the joomla forum to check for help and there are at least 20 posts talking about database errors. Thought I would share because if stackideas are advertising for people to update, there should be a disclaimer.

Hm, I think errors like this are bound to happen because there are just too many different environment and setup. Having said that, I agree we need to add a disclaimer link in our post so others could also check out the forums on Joomla.

By the way, most of the time having a blank page would generally mean there is a php fatal error somewhere. Try turning on your error reporting to see if there are any errors

There is a problem with 3.7, and it's quite a serious one. See details here: https://www.akeebabackup.com/home/news/1676-joomla-3-7-0-and-cli-scripts.html .

Thanks for sharing Sarah. To those of you who are having problems with Joomla 3.7, do take a look at their FAQ here, https://docs.joomla.org/Category:Version_3.7.0_FAQ

I know that this is not really the right place to ask this but any thoughts on whether it is better to update the PHP version first e.g. 7+ or to update the Joomla version first? Updating to PHP has proved tricky so far... Currently on PHP 5.6.30 & Joomla 3.6.5? Thanks Paul.

  1. Mark    Paul Murray

I don't think it really matters Paul but my preference would be to get to PHP 7 first before updating to 3.7

Hi Mark, thanks for this. I have since been able to get to PHP 7.0.18 with out running into errors. So I will take the plunge soon... Have done my back ups and because I am completely paranoid I will test the Joomla Update on a Sandbox version of my site first. Thanks. Paul.

Perhaps you want to wait for 3.7.1 first if you are afraid

Hello Experts,

I am confused in 1 thing, Should me need to upgrade first 3rd party extension and then upgrade Joomla to 3.7.4 ? Is it correct ?

or we need to upgrade first Joomla 3.7.4 and then 3rd party extensions?

  1. Mark    Ismail Haider

Either way works fine
