Enhanced EasySocial App Store

Enhanced EasySocial App Store

EasySocial has been growing rapidly since the initial launch and so are the apps that surrounds the Eco-system of EasySocial. Some of which are created by our own team, but quite a number of apps was created by our trusted partners and friends.

Building apps around EasySocial isn't that difficult at all and doesn't require a lot of man hours but supporting and maintaining them is. Therefore, at this point of time we have decided to make 2 of the apps that is on our Store to be a paid app. By taking this approach, it would ensure that the apps are supported.

Mosets Tree App for EasySocial

For those of you who are unaware of what Mosets Tree really is, it's a directory extension for Joomla! Mosets Tree gives all the tools and feature needed to run a business directory, real estate management system, web links directory, model profiles or almost any type of imaginable directories on a Joomla website.

Due to the fact that Mosets Tree runs on Joomla!, there are infinite possibilities to include more features to website by using third party extensions from Joomla! Extensions Directory. We built a Mosets Tree App that helps build the bridge between Mosets Tree and EasySocial. By installing the app, user's on your site will be able to showcase their listings on their very own profile.

Do take note that you will need both EasySocial and Moset Tree for this app to work..

EasyDiscuss App for EasySocial

We have enhanced the app to further tighten the integration between EasySocial and EasyDiscuss. In this new app, your community users would be able to quickly create a new discussion in EasyDiscuss directly from the story form just above the stream! Apart from this, users can now also view their subscribed threads right on their own profile page. Check out some of the screenshots of this app in action:

View The App

P/S: All apps sold by Stack Ideas on our own Apps store will only be charged once and you will not need to renew or re-purchase the app. In other words, you only pay once and get continuous updates for the app and support as well.

That's not all folks...

We are also in the midst of preparing for EasySocial 1.4 and you can view the roadmap. Apart from that, we are also working on a Job app which integrates with a reputable Job Extension.

Also, An Extended Offer...

Remember our Memorial Day Promotion? Well, we have a might good news for all of you; the 20% discount is extended, which means you can now renew your licenses with a 20% discount. You can even use this code to get new licenses, so those who have EasySocial can now get EasyDiscuss at a lower price (or vice versa). The coupon code is :

REMEMBERSTACK20

Head on to our App Store to check out those apps that I've mentioned or renew your license. :)

Hi Mark,
I think that ED app should have been free for ED and ES subscribers. An integration between those 2 components from the same company should not require an extra cost. It is not sensible. At least you can make a simple version of it available as free.

I agree Zafer on this, apps for products where people have already a subscription for both of them should be free.

Hi Zafer,

Thank you for your idea and suggestion. Initially we have the plan of providing it for free. However, it seems that providing it for free doesn't quite justify the amount of time our developers have put in to developing both apps.

Nevertheless, I do understand your concern and will forward this feedback to the team. Thank you again, Zafer!

For example, kind of ridiculous that users can't upload a video at this late date in ES history. Patiently waiting but this kind of announcement all things considered shakes my confidence and makes me feel like an idiot for waiting patiently.

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your comment. I understand your frustration. However, our response would be the same as before; that we're putting all our effort on both EasyBlog and EasySocial even as we speak. We have just released EasyBlog 5 RC1 yesterday and if everything goes well, we might jump straight to the final stable version. I can't make any promises though; we're heavily relying on the bug reports made by our testers before we can decide on EasyBlog 5's next step. I personally hope...

Thank you for your comment. I understand your frustration. However, our response would be the same as before; that we're putting all our effort on both EasyBlog and EasySocial even as we speak. I personally hope that we will jump straight to the stable version.

As for EasySocial, we have developers that are putting their skills into it but our main focus would be on EasyBlog 5 first.

Thank you so much for all of your patience and understanding. The Stack Ideas team are, in fact, users and customers too, and we truly understand how you feel. Let me know if you need any further clarification or elaboration; you can either reach me via our CRM or by sending me a mail at justin [at] stackideas [dot] com.

What I find odd is that on the one hand I really hear how you only have a small team and so it is hard to go any faster on both EB and ES, yet not long ago someone just posted a comment in one of your blogs how it would be nice to have integration with Mosets Tree and suddenly here it is. I searched on Voices for ES and there is no mention of it or anyone voting for it!

Andrew,

Building apps doesn't really take a long time actually and while I was actually away from the desk to attend Joomla Day China, I managed to quickly create this app

Building features and functionality within core products has more thought process than creating an app. I can't do it while I am travelling

Wondering whether ED app, allows users to reply to existing discussions?
(I have a closed ED forum, wherein only replies to existing topics are allowed)

Unfortunately, the ED app doesn't allow users to reply to existing discussions.

I would not fully agree that the apps should be included in the total price, because not everyone is using all of the StackIdeas components. So if you purchase one, or a bundle, you can't always cater to who needs what. Also, the fact you can re-use them all over multiple sites, the prices seem more than fair.

What I would like to see (as the EasyDiscuss apps solves so many of my issues) is maybe include the EasyBlog and EasyDiscuss integration apps with a Developer bundle. Either way, I'm...

Thank you so much for all the hard work!

Yes, Mark loves to code and even during his free time, away from the main development, he browses the site just to get an idea on what apps to code.

I believe your response is for Vladimir? If so, there is already works underway to integrate Hikashop with EasySocial and it is being worked on by Hikashop themselves We don't want / need to reinvent the wheel again

I can understand an extra charge for extra functional apps - especially the quality of the work you put into your wares.
It does create a market for 3rd parties to establish an app that does what yours does but a bit more and charge less for doing it though. So, by entering the realm of 'pay to play' apps for your products, you'll also be giving others a chance to 'cash in' as well.

I'll buy the App..

I think there are many apps that could get charged. But I definitely see it as the WRONG point to charge for the EasyDiscuss-App. The reason is simple:

Bout Extensions are Stackideas-Extensions. So the onliest customers for this App are are already paying customers of stackideas, and they also are customers that paid more then one extension. This is an extension, that should be free of charge.

However, if you polish apps for external extensions and load them with some more features, it is...

However, if you polish apps for external extensions and load them with some more features, it is a fair way to charge for them. But it has to be more then "just acticity-stream-items". Here some examples:

- Kunena
Create stream-items, migrate the activities on multiple postings in the same thread.

- Virtuemart
Place an Activity-Item for every bought product (including the option to the customer to hide the item), place automatically featured products, get the product-rating into the stream,...

- Acymailing
The option to place a newsletter automatically into the activity-stream, optional include rough statistics and allow commenting on the newsletter inside of the activity-item. Also allow subscribing in the stream-item

Apps like this would be great extensions, and they should be chaged (and maintained on high quality). But especially the App that connects EasySocial and EasyDiscuss ... I don´t think you should force your users to pay for an app that they ONLY need because they use bou th of your products ...

All the best, Julian!

Have to agree on the ED pay issue. Now only paid option for ED App integration

There has been a long gap in any update to core ED, due to EB and ES. It is a fantastic extension! But with subscription running out, hard to see what benefit of renewal other than continuing to support your work.

Tighter integration is what you always promote as benefit of your extensions. Surely this should be default?

Hi again,

I just had a look at the Mosets-App and I would like to ask what the features are.
The onliest two features I found so far are:

- Create an Activity-Stream-Item for MTree-Listings
- Create the "Show-my-listings"-Section in the Profile of Easysocial.

I can´t imagine that this two very basic features would be charged for 35 Dollars, so what is the real benefit of the App?

All the best, Julian!

Hey Julian,

The author of the extension was reluctant to build the app for his own customers and we decided to initiate the first step in both creating the app and the plugin (which is free) as well.

We are not forcing anyone to purchase the app, we charge a considerably small amount of fee for our hardship in creating the app and also maintaining it.

Thanks for understanding

Hi Mark,

please keep in mind: The customers-view is different then the coders-view and the sellers-view.
I don´t really understand what the difference between "app" and "plugin" is.

The average customer is not really interested in the question, who did code the plugin. The point is: If an average customer buys EasySocial and then he buys EasyDiscuss, I think he expects that bouth extensions work together. Hi Mark,

please keep in mind: The customers-view is different then the coders-view and the sellers-view.
I don´t really understand what the difference between "app" and "plugin" is.

The average customer is not really interested in the question, who did code the plugin. The point is: If an average customer buys EasySocial and then he buys EasyDiscuss, I think he expects that bouth extensions work together. And I think the same: It does not feel good, if you start to sell single features.

This is not about the money! If you need to charge more money, raise the price of EasySocial and integrate the App!
Please watch the featuers of the App closely: Is there ANY feature that should not be standart in your Software? How much sense does it make to use EasySocial and Easydiscuss togehter, but not to use this app? It makes zero sense, and this is why it should be integrated.

Or from the other point of view: The cheapest ES-Version is 89 Dollars. The Cheapest ED-Version is 59 Dollars.
The simple App, that does nothing more then connect the Stream with the Discussions. ES and ED are huge, great extensions, packed with millions of great features.
And this simple app, that only does a little connection, is charged with 35 Dollars? This looks like you try to charge some more money through the backdoor. Your reputation is way too good to have such a thing on your page.

So really, if you raise the price for ES, for ED or even for bouth of them, you have my full support! The software is worth more then you charge for and your support is priceless, it´s really great! But please don´t start to charge little things that should be includet. The price of the App just does not feel fair compared with the price for ES or ED ...

And again ... this is the customers perspective.

All the best, Julian!

PS: If you would create the same App/Plugin for Kunena, I would instantly buy it and pay it. I see it totally different with Kunena: It is external software! And I would be very happy if you would create the App also for Kunena. I need to use Kunena because ED simply does not work with larger websites. I have >50.000 Postings and tried it ... ED needet more then 2 Minutes to load a page, while Kunena made it in 0,4 Seconds.

@Julian, what do you want an app/plugin for Kunena to do that the existing one for EasySocial doesn't do already?
