EasySocial 1.3.19 Updates

EasySocial 1.3.19 Updates

We have released EasySocial 1.3.19; with some bug fixes and 3 new features available. Check out the features.

New Installation Interface

We're tired of the plain boring interface in the previous version. Hence, we've upgraded the installation screen, making it more up-to-date with the latest trend. In case you're the type who install something and leave it without checking out the installation screen (like me!), here's the screenshot for this :

Option For Multiple 'Feature' in Groups and Events.

We've also added the option for you to set multiple events and groups as 'featured' via your backend. All you have to do is navigate to the page, click on the checkboxes and click either 'Make Featured' (to set it as featured) or Remove Featured (to remove it as Featured). This makes it easier for sites that have active group and event activities.

Centralized Setting for Stream's Truncation

Fragmented menus are nightmares for both the developers and the end-users. With that in mind, we've centralized all options for Activity Stream's truncation settings under one roof. It is now under Settings > Streams > Content.

Other Bug Fixes

There are numerous other bug fixes in this release. Just to name a few, we've fixed the issue where non-logged-in user are able to view private groups (sorry about that!). Event avatar is also set as the Opengraph image. It's a minor update, but I believe that this is one of those minor updates which you should obtain in order to ensure that everything is up-to-date and easier for both the users and the support team to assist you. Updates can be obtained via your Dashboard.

How About A Discount Code With This?

We do not have any discount code for this release. Why? Because the previous Valentine's Day / Lunar New Year's coupon code is currently available; which will give you a 20% discount off on all of your purchases. This means that the coupon code can be used to renew your EasySocial. Should your EasySocial license has already expires, now's the best chance to renew by using the discount code and obtain the latest release. In case you guys missed it, the coupon code is :

JOOMSTACK20

It is also worth mentioning that the coupon code will also give you a 20% discount off from your new Joomlart's subscription. Details about this here. Kindly take note that this coupon code expires today, the 25th of February 2015, at 11:59pm (GMT + 8), so it's best if you use this coupon code as before it expires.

Thank you for reading. Feel free to leave any comments, ideas, and/or suggestions in the comment box below.

According to their roadmap they haven't even started anything on it yet so I'm guessing it will be a long wait :(

Hi guys! I understand that waiting is a pain, but we're in heavy development mode and currently, we're putting EasyBlog 5 as the top priority. It's near completion (Alpha version is coming!) and once Alpha is out, the team will push on EasySocial while we gather reports from the testers.

Thank you for your kind patience and understanding!

It is a shame that you don't have enough staff to work on both products at once - there does seem to always be this either one of other being looked at. Perhaps you could make the subscriptions run for alternate periods also?

@Justin, you guys have been blabbing about an Alpha for months now. You even made this joke of a link that you had to take down because of your garbage schedule: http://stackideas.com/easyblog5

Something to ponder... you release an Alpha, then Beta 1, 2, 3, 4, 5.... Stable! << Finally Stable! So, ultimately your telling us its going to be weeks/months before EasySocial will be update or started and the same Alpha, Beta crap all over again. This is the same cycle we have seen in the past...

This is the same cycle we have seen in the past and to see it still moving forward is ludicrous. I suggest in a previous post you hire some real help. You have your MAIN developer answering forum questions and building miscellaneous integrations for what reason? Hire a guy, pay him low and have him managing the support forum. Build teams of people to run each project... this is not rocket science folks but you make it out to be.

Last.. as I said previously this is exactly what happened to JomSocial, big heads, big pockets, little time and help. Some of us call this the Azrul Effect.... ashamed to see it happening all over again.

About the EasySocial Roadmap - go update the thing.

Stop jacking around writing stupid blogs and update the roadmap if any work has really been done like Mark proclaims has been. I seriously doubt anything has been done. Its frustrating sitting on the side lines seeing something with so much potential go to waste.

They said "1.4 release won't be as 1.3". They were right... it will be slower.

And no, it's not about patience. It's about promises you know you CAN NOT honour.

@Randall... more brown nosing and this guy is a pro at it.
@Justin... same as Randall

Both must be Canadian?!?!

@Richard, exactly! Stackideas is unable to put a real delivery date together. This is an ongoing struggle with them and their inability to manage their company. A smart business owner will look ahead and see the storm coming where as someone who is a follower vs leader will wait for the storm to hit and not know what the .... is going on. Kind of where we are at now.. mid-storm.

Like others have said, great product, crap execution.

I will say again, use a more realistic development process where you not only fix problems but release new features more rapidly and in smaller batches. Like 1.3 where we all felt we would have Events, Videos and Pages to only have Events. They hype and false advertisement are annoying and not really needed.

Last, stop selling a product with discount codes. If your going to do it use a better format like TechJoomla is doing with Shika: http://oi62.tinypic.com/2aka51v.jpg

This is getting retarded!

Hi guys,

Blackhambone, thank you for all of your input. Well, I do partly agree with you, the dev should concentrate on development while support must be done by a dedicated Support Team. It is Mark's practice to jump into the Support portal just to 'help out' because he wanted to provide the best support to his users. Hi guys,

Blackhambone, thank you for all of your input. Well, I do partly agree with you, the dev should concentrate on development while support must be done by a dedicated Support Team. It is Mark's practice to jump into the Support portal just to 'help out' because he wanted to provide the best support to his users. Previously this is easy because the dev team were not faced with tedious tasks. However, as we're planning on EasySocial 1.4 and EasyBlog 5, the task becomes more complicated than what we have anticipated (remember Mark mentioned about being 'too ambitious'?).

Being from someone who have served JomSocial (both Azrul's and Merav's era), I actually chuckled when I read you saying 'Azrul Effect'. We will ensure that this 'effect' won't be happening in our establishment. :D

I'd have to disagree when you say 'stupid blog post'; blogging is a way for u to interact with users. Look at it this way, you are communicating with me via a (stupid) blog post; without it which you won't be able to raise your suggestion. I would also have to disagree with your comment on discount code. The code is to help lessen the burden of those who wishes to upgrade or obtain our component. I understand your frustration and disagreement, but please refrain from belittling the effort that the team have put to reach out to our users and assist them to the best of our ability.

To the other Guests, Richard, I believe it is waaayyy to early for you to judge us as not being able to honor our promises, but thank you for your input.

Well, I am glad that the discussion in this blog post is better than the previous ones. Keep the input coming! :)

@Ahmad Justin, believe me, I know what I say. I was a client, now not anymore because I've been disappointed by a few things.

Let me clarify one thing: we (I think I can speak also for others) do not complain about your products, but about the way you deal with them. I was an ES customer so I can speak for my experience. You published a roadmap with an alleged "montly" release schedule... then bi-montly... then randomly... then once in a while... then "who knows when".
Is this ok for you?...

Is this ok for you? For me, as a customer, it's not. Do I have the right to be just a little disappointed?

I know you have skills, you have ideas and everything else, your products are good and you offer quick and effective support. ES is good but it lacks what I need and I do not want to pay and wait indefinitely for something that could, or could not, come. That's it, in the most respectful and civilized way I can.

@Ahmad - Your right, the blog post is not stupid I just feel its a waste of time for the lead developer to blog when he has a marketing staff to do this for him. Similar to jumping in the forum. Right? There are people within the StackIdeas community "non-paid" members who have offered to be support staff. Let them help, they offer freely! Randall for one (although obnoxious at times) has offered on several occasions amongst others. Given StackIdeas ability to code it shouldn't be too...

Given StackIdeas ability to code it shouldn't be too difficult to program a ticket escalation process into EasyDiscuss so that if the first line of support can't resolve a problem it goes to Tier 2? Right?

Speaking of support... this is another situation at StackIdeas, you have:
- Forums
- Tickets
- http://www.stackideas.com/issues

(3) Channels for support, does it not make sense to consolidate these into (1) centralized channel? I mean if your staff are having to jump from one area to the next how efficient is that? Efficiency = Money.

@Ahmad - Regarding the Coupon Code, maybe I wasn't clear enough. A code is a great idea, who doesn't like some money back in their wallets? Right? So I am not bashing the code but the fact that we see a code and have no clear idea as to when we will get a new product. You have to understand that there is a bit of "crying wolf" going on or for the kiddos "playing peekaboo"? You show us an epic idea, boast about availability but then we are let down. A few weeks later the same result, let down. If you fix the let down and realize what I was saying about how TechJoomla is handling Shika Pre-Order you will better understand what I mean.

@Mark - Yes we all have asked for help. However not all of have asked for "new features" and even those that are asked for are pick and choose. It seems as though the more a feature is complained about in the forum the more likely it is to be add. Even from a 3rd Party integration... let them integrate, why would you do it? I know... to support the customers, grow your business, etc... great! Good Job, pat on the back. But, if you keep doing this your product will never be update and the customers will leave "Like Richard above" because they don't get what they are promised. When I say promised I mean YOU "MARK / AHMAD" say it on the forum or in a blog.

@StackIdeas - Address all questions please. As said previously, you have said you have begun ES 1.4, what have you done? How difficult would it be to go click a few buttons and update the roadmap? Thats really all people are asking. As I said previously it really just seems like EB5 is the priority and nothing has been done to ES. Write a blog about what you have done, since you guys like these blogs so much!

Anyhow, more of my two cents....

Thanks
- BlackHamBone

I think the word to take from all this is "Expectation".

There are 2 sides:
USERS- who want an amazing social network to build with a Facebook power engine
STACKIDEAS- who want to make the best possible extensions available within the Joomla Framework

Most of us know the Stackideas team are focussed and passionate about what they do, and the support is incredible! You will not get the response speed from any other extension team in Joomla Fact!.

Stackideas are really excited about the cutting edge work they are producing, and want to let us know, and it keeps you engaged in their product. As a marketing tool this is really important. The development time costs must be massive, and engagement is way cheaper than advertising space.

To keep the product price down requires a lot of sales to cover this cost. Less sales and means the product price has to be higher. The winging tight arse parasite users that take the GPL attitude of have it for free need to rack off!

The issue for Stackideas is to properly manage Expectation. Rather than offer the world, focussing on the power of what can be done with what we have would keep the engagement going. Small tweaks are always good, and the regular changelog is a real reason for keeping the subscription going.

When the gems appear that blow us away, is when the social media will work for you, and the word spreads. You don't need to throw all your bait into the lake until the big fish ripples show ;)

Don't worry Stackideas team, although we (your customers) are craving for the next EB and ES, we aren't going anywhere! I choose your extensions for good reasons. Sure your roadmap didn't work as you planned it but you aren't the only one. I don't know any company that develop joomla extension being on time! Still waiting for quic2cart roadmap from techjoomla (promise 2 months ago) so we I can plan my next development phase of my site. And to whoever are expressing their frustration here,...

And to whoever are expressing their frustration here, realize that you get great extensions for pretty cheap. Techjoomla plan to sell their new extension Shika from 199.99 to 699.99$ depending of the support time and features. Stackideas could sell ES for that same price and probably respect their roadmap, but then you'll be coming back angry because it is too expensive...
Stackideas team is learning right now from the mistake they didn't. No need to point them out over and over again.
PS: Why the frustrated post are only from GUEST user? No need to hide!

Re aikigi's last line above:

PS.. Why the frustrated post are only from GUEST user? No need to hide!

Are the guest posters potential customers? Frustrated would be customers? Or are they someone with an agenda? Smells like competitor to me and so I did an independent little test.

I have asked a few of my technology friends that manage their own companies to look over this thread and give me their opinion independent of each other, with this question:

Q: In your opinion after reading this thread, do you feel the Guest posts on this subject are real potential customers with some valid concerns, or is there something more sinister going in here?

And they all said the same thing:

In their opinion without each of them having any skin the game (they choose no sides) each one concluded that:
1. The Guest - BlackHamBone Guest - Richard and Guest - Migel are the same person and most likely a competitor with an agenda to embarrass and cause issues for the StackIdeas Team.

In my opinion this is what I see from the Guest Posts:
2. This BlackHamBone is talking to himself, and it is so obvious. The same thing happened last year at the release of ES 1.3 in the Fall with a similar type situation thread when the so called Pirate - Captain JackA$$ or Captain Tango with the Anonymous Avatar did everything possible to stir up problems for Mark and the SI Team, and this had me very close to tracking him down to expose him as the con-job competitor he is that is hell bent on causing damage to the SI Team and especially Mark's credibility.

This is the most likely scenario. I believe as my tech friends believe that the Guest posters are one and the same person, having a fake conversation to create a scenario to dump on SI Team for each release from version ES 1.3 and now ES 1.4 and also with EB5. All done to make the StackIdeas Team and especially to make Mark look bad.

It's not going to work and this jack a$$ fool will find out soon enough that it will come back to haunt them. The thing that I hope is that Ahmad Justin spots this person's modus operandi ASAP and this can happened with our help. Time to call a spade a spade on BlackHamBone or shall a say Captain Tango. EXPOSING this person and their real agenda is the best remedy to stop this crap.

The SI doesn't have to expose this person. They have better things to do and should ignore this person. The Loyal supporters and customers of StackIdeas Team see through this person's lame plan and this will expose him for who he really is. A very concerned competitor or an ally of a concerned competitor.

SUGGESTION: @Ahmad Justin Please do not waste any valuable time on this Time Vampire.

BlackHamBone = Captain Tango ( and these posters do not exist - Guest - Richard and Guest - Migel:

DON"T FALL FOR THIS TWIT. Read between the lines and see him for how he tries to create a scenario using the multiple guest posters trick. Concerned competitors have been doing this trick ever since software has been sold, and I have been in this industry for 30 plus years.

I had to chuckle at the post from the so called Guest poster BlackHamBone 5 days ago after I posted the Quote image above.

Guest - BlackHamBone - about 5 days ago

@Randall... more brown nosing and this guy is a pro at it.
@Justin... same as Randall

Both must be Canadian?!?!

I am a Proud Canadian and I laughed my a$$ off when I saw Captain JackA$$ or BlackHamBone post me being a brown noser. It still makes me chuckle. The one and only person to ever call me that got his a$$ kicked in the corner of the hockey rink. Canadian's are pretty laid back people - but get our dander up and look out. We are a very loyal bunch. We understand the importance of loyalty and how to support a good team that will always deliver.

FYI my friend Justin is a Proud American, and we are like thousands of other customers that are very supportive of the best development team we could ask for - the StackIdeas Team. They do not work a 9 to 5 schedule. They are dedicated, and they all show up every day and work long hours to deliver the very best bleeding edge products to us REAL CUSTOMERS.

KEEP UP the GOOD WORK STACKIDEAS TEAM.
I Look forward to EB 5 and ES 1.4 when they are ready for prime time testing.

Hi guys, thank you all for the input. However, I'd highly suggest for us not to generalize someone on their nationalities, or where they come from. For me, each of us is unique (in a good way) and we should get to know each other and help each other improve.

The Stack Ideas team is delivering everything to the best of our abilities.

@Randall as usual, thank you buddy for your comment. ;)
