EasySocial 1.1 Stable Available Now!

EasySocial 1.1 Stable Available Now!

We are proud to announce the general release of EasySocial 1.1. Much thought has been put in for this release that we are very confident that your customers would love these updates. I am also very proud of the entire team behind the company as we have achieved one of our greatest milestone ever in such a short period of time. None of us has ever produced such great results in such a short period of time.

This release focuses on building an exciting and thriving social network. We have placed lots of emphasis on how your users would benefit from registering on the site and how to increase the conversion rate for your social network.

Here are some of the many features that are new in EasySocial 1.1:

#Hashtags and @names

Beautifully crafted and close to perfection, we are really proud of what we have invented. The hash tags and @names feature in EasySocial allows users on your site to quickly be able to mention someone's name and probably tag them using hash tags.

Custom Stream Filters

Social networks are often cluttered by tons of activity stream updates and this will eventually just be noise in any site. Your users would never appreciate this as there is no way for them to only view updates that they want to see. With the addition of custom stream filters, your users would be able to customize the output of the stream based on specific hash tags defined.

Rich Media Sharing

Rich media sharing is inevitable to enhance the stream. With the latest release of EasySocial, we have added tons of rich media support. These are some of the main rich media providers that is supported:

  • Slideshare
  • Vimeo
  • Youtube
  • Soundcloud
  • Spotify
  • Flickr gallery
  • Hulu
  • CollegeHumor
  • Scribd
  • and a whole lot of them.

More Applications & Modules

With the release of EasySocial 1.1, we have also introduced several applications, plugins and modules that can be used in conjunction with your existing Joomla site. These are the new additions for EasySocial

  • Article Plugin (Joomla) - Displays a nice author information box beneath the article and also the ability to render comments.
  • Article Application (EasySocial) - Displays a list of recent articles the user has contributed on the site, points integrations, badges integrations and stream integrations.
  • Kunena Application (EasySocial) - Displays a list of forum posts and replies the user has contributed in Kunena, points integrations, badges integrations and stream integrations.
  • Kunena Plugin (Kunena) - Allows Kunena to retrieve the avatar, messaging link , profile link from EasySocial.
  • Dropdown Menu (Joomla) - Displays a really nice dropdown menu for your site.

Tons of Exciting Enhancements

There are just too many enhancements to list them all here but all in all, we have refined lots of existing features and functionality based on the feedback on the initial release EasySocial. We have improvised the behavior of the story form in the stream and mainly focused on the usability aspect.

Lots of Thank You!

Here, we would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone contributed towards this release especially our users. We are really grateful to have awesome customers like you. Without you guys, we wouldn't be able to achieve so much in such a short period of time. So THANK YOU!

What's Next?

Our next immediate goal is to proceed with EasySocial 1.2 and beyond. In fact, if you view our road map , works are already underway and we'll be updating you shortly about the features that we are working on.

Congratulations Mark to you and the team. I have couple of questions though since im still not a member

1- why can't users share something from the frontend main page of easysocial and need to navigate to their profile?
2- what is the status of the phone app with techjoomla. this question is important since we are on the edge of investing good money towards other companies
3- Why one of the comments made by a gust have my profile picture

Congrats again

Thanks Muhanad. Please find the answers below:

1- why can't users share something from the frontend main page of easysocial and need to navigate to their profile?

The unity view is meant to display a mashup of all activities throughout the site and it doesn't display the story form there. This behavior will be changed in EasySocial 1.2 as we will merge the unity view and the dashboard view creating a glorifying dashboard.

It's a joint collaboration effort where they are preparing the specs for us and we'll fill them with the designs. No ETA on this yet though.

We have yet to update Komento on our site yet There's a known bug in this release but this issue is already resolved in the latest version of Komento

Thank you Kaloyan We have yet to receive any bug reports so far and it was pretty stable already since we have already addressed most of the issues on the first beta. Hence we decided to just push the stable release out

Hi there,

I'm very amazed by your social component and think that its new level of beautiful social networking. But ONE of the reason, that I will implement Jomsocial instead of EasySocial is Events.

Events are very, VERY important part of communities. I can't undestand, why you not planning to implement it to EasySocial in very close time?

As I see, in next version, will be implemented groups - next very important part of communities

But... why social component without amazing events?

It's too bad there is no android/ios notification support. That would easily set easysocial apart from everyone else and would have made my decision easier. any plans for this?

Hi Charles,

Some answers to your questions:

-For registration I noticed address is required. Can this be switched to optional instead of required? Can any field be set to optional?

Yes, you can set the address optional or required. Not all fields are able to be set as non-required like username, password, fullname and email address.

can wordpress blog post and comments be imported to easysocial?

Importing WP blogs and comments to EasySocial is not possible but you can manually post the blogs in the EasySocial wall to share the article.

can members easily upload photos directly using android/ios camera?

Sorry, this is not possible. It would need something like an EasySocial app for android/ios to upload to EasySocial but we have no plans for that.

Hope it all helped, Charles
