Today, we would like to briefly bring you through the latest update for EasyBlog and EasySocial. Read on to learn more.
Seeing that Facebook has been deprecating many applications with their updated API in accordance to their new policy update, it is really unfortunate to officially announce that auto-posting to Facebook user profile will discontinue starting from EasyBlog 5.2.5. However, auto-post to Facebook groups and pages remains.
To ensure that EasyBlog 5.2 follows the latest standard requirements by LinkedIn's data security, EasyBlog 5.2.5 now runs on OAuth 2.0 for LinkedIn auto-posting.
Similar to the double opt-in concept, users will now go through an additional step upon subscribing to the site. A confirmation email with a verification code will be sent to users upon subscription, in addition to a consent notice stating the data collected and usage from the site admins.
Site admin can now opt to display page heading and description even when EasyBlog toolbar was disabled altogether.
To ensure that recaptcha field is up to date in EasyBlog 5.2, we updated the invisible recaptcha field which enabled you to skip "I'm not a robot" button. On top of that, it can be used for comments too.
Apart from addressing mostly bug fixes, this urgent release was due to EasyBlog 5.2.5 compatibility issue. Therefore, it is recommended to upgrade EasySocial 2.2.2 simply to avoid any complications.
Upgrading to the latest version is pretty straightforward, simply hit the Update button found at the backend of EasyBlog or EasySocial (available from EasyBlog 5.2 and EasySocial 2.2 onwards). However, if your site is still running on prior versions mentioned, it is recommended to download the full installer and run the installation as you normally would.
