EasyBlog 5.1.13 & EasySocial 2.1 RC2 Released

EasyBlog 5.1.13 & EasySocial 2.1 RC2 Released

While we are in the midst of fine tuning Vanilla template on our demo, we made sure every white spaces, paddings, columns and rows were properly even out. Let's also not forget about the usual maintenance updates for the rest of our Joomla extensions, starting off with the EasyBlog 5.1.13 update.

This maintenance update includes minor bug fixes, some optimization in preparation for EasySocial 2.1 update and significant improvements for Facebook instant articles. You may refer to the entire list of fixes with the button below.

EasySocial 2.1 RC2

There is a slight change of plans, initially we thought it might be possible to release a stable version right after the first release candidate. However, we decided to standardize the styling for the apps layout especially in terms of HTML structure.

EasySocial 2.1 RC2 release is basically ironing in the current features and stability improvements. This might be the final lap of testing before we roll out EasySocial 2.1. Lastly, we will revealing more about Vanilla in the next post, so stay tuned and happy testing! :)

Thank you joy! We'll see what we can do more about these gaming integration. As for material UI, we have been experimenting with it but moving forward, we will not be moving into any frameworks.

Using frameworks makes our life so much easier and we spend less time thinking about the UI but eventually it would lead to a lot of complications especially conflicts with the templates (We experienced this with Twitter bootstrap)

I have seen sites rendering bootstrap 1, bootstrap 2, bootstrap 3 and material UI. I cannot imagine how the site owner manages their site. It is too insane.

Moving forward, EasySocial's template prototyping will be made so much easier (We have already done 90% of it in this release), and it will pay off with the Vanilla template

Hi Mark

it will pay off with the Vanilla template

What advantage does the Vanilla template have over for e.g... Wanderers or Elegant?
Is there an demo of it some where or I have I missed something?

best

Paul

It will be revealed pretty soon Vanilla has something different and we are excited to try this out.

To give you an idea about why the changes on RC2 was an important change and how it helped us in developing vanilla:

http://take.ms/nFZgI
http://take.ms/ydhL7

The layouts above are achieved using protostar and a simple user.css in just 10 lines of codes (minus the selectors of course)

Our team loves to play Dota 2 a lot and I think I could try to motivate them to build an app for Steam :p

Hi,

You're doing an excellent job!

Sylvie: "[W]e made sure every white spaces, paddings, columns and rows were properly even out." Sounds like a lot of hard work, but I'm sure it will pay off in the end. Looking forward to seeing what you created

Thanks for the update!

Cheers

Thank you! Yes, it was very stressful but definitely worth every bit of our time.

  1. Philippe

Thanks to all the Stackideas team for your hard work !

  1. Mark    Philippe

Thank you for your findings too Philippe! This will most likely be the last RC release before we push out the stable. Let's get this rolling

  1. Philippe    Mark

You are really very patient with us.
It must be annoying to frequently receive queries to change this, add that...

  1. Mark    Philippe

Nah, it's all in the name of building great tools for our customers. We do get it once in a while because we are human too and I guess we always try to see the light at the end of the tunnel and I am really pleased with all that has been changed since the alpha release.

I second Philippe Mark, thank you for your patience and willingness to hear us out. You guys indeed is the best Joomla vendor and has the best customer support that I personally dealt with through the years of using Joomla! CMS.

I admit I could be annoying at most times but you and you team's patience is greatly appreciated.

Jackson

To all testers, for this new upcoming version I had not time to participate and I want to thank you all for your help and investment.

The Stackideas team is at the pinnacle of Joomla! coding and release top notch components.
Other companies that offer similar products just can not compete, not even in their wildest dreams. Period!
Maybe others get better and improve a little but Stackideas just stays on the podium FIRST again and again - by far.

2 points for you to check Mark:
- mobile template does not allow viewing anything even with links you can not see anything, desktop/tablets do allow viewing as guest - please check

- Mark, I am 1000% against answers given in the forums..
Please grab a tablet and go to profile/page/events views and see how the "About" Tab displays on tablet vertical view...
Look at the columns size and the little tiny map in the right column... this isn't still nice.
The basic information should stack in narrow vertical display like tablets.
Like for mobile - I DO NOT mean tablets need a mobile view like phones !!.
Tablets are in between desktops and phones. They need a "responsive" view to display a nicer page view.
I hope we will find a compromise on this

Yeah, this is because we turned on lockdown mode on the mobile template to test it out. The mobile template which was developed is to work hand in hand with webview native apps on mobile devices. This is very suitable for site owners who wants to build a unique social experience for their end users without spending too much on building native apps.

I totally agree with you here and to be honest, we haven't spent much time on tablets (mainly because we don't really use them as much as mobile devices) Once all these standardization of HTML structure is applied in EasySocial, it would be a tad easier for us to start looking into tablet layouts.

Tablets are very tricky because the range of tablet sizes are very huge as compared to mobile devices. Some tablets even go as big as 12" (which should really be treated as a laptop already)

Hi Mark, just had a try with RC2, looks great! Tried to edit a post with a video linked and got an error. Is this something you're working before the stable release?

  1. NIK FARIS    David

Hi David, I am unable to replicate the issue. Can you create a support ticket for this in our Beta Testing forum: https://stackideas.com/forums/easysocial/beta-3 ? You can provide steps to replicate it in the forum post. :)
