EasyBlog 3.9 released with EasySocial integration

EasyBlog 3.9 released with EasySocial integration

easyblog-39-joomla-blogging-700x350.jpg

We are happy to announce another great release of EasyBlog version 3.9! In this release, we have added tons of new and exciting features for better blogging in Joomla! and most importantly, integrations with the all new EasySocial, in the following areas:

  • Album Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Profile & Avatar Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Activity Stream Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Live Notifications with EasySocial.
  • Badge Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Points Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Friends & Followers Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Blog Privacy Integrations with EasySocial.
  • Import and Export Settings.
  • Pin to top featured blogs.
  • Company postings on LinkedIn.
  • Enhancements on pending blog management.
  • Respect author's configured editor.
  • New Zinc theme (For Unlimited version).
  • More ACL controls over the toolbar.

Javascript Optimization

Apart from just new functionality, EasyBlog 3.9 also incorporates extensive optimization on our javascript library, Foundry JS by reducing the number of "http" requests on the server. In other words, EasyBlog is blazing fast! The optimization that was made on EasySocial is now brought over to EasyBlog and will eventually be introduced in all our extensions.

For coders, our Changelog shall give you a clearer picture of what's new.

Notes

We would also like to announce that EasyBlog 3.9 will no longer support Joomla 1.5. You will not be able to download EasyBlog installer for Joomla 1.5 in your Dashboard as well. We only recommend and support Joomla 2.5 and above.

We'd like you to get your hands on the new EasyBlog and upgrade yours and that of your clients' site immediately.

Update

It is important to take note that upgrading from major releases from versions 3.8.x or lower to 3.9.x, requires a manual upgrade via the Extension Manager. It is not possible to do this via the Updater. Please be rest assured that the normal upgrade process will not erase your blog posts or settings.

For my Studio the best changes is JS optimization , i love of course all integration with EasySocial, but JS optimization is the best Feature.

Congratulations for the great work

Your on a roll with the release of Easyblog 3.9. Congratulations. I look forward to the integration between EasyBlog 3.9 and EasySocial.

2 things to ask:

1. Will you be starting the planned EasyDiscuss integrations with EasySocial soon?

2. In the EasyBlog 3.9 email announcement, I found that the following link - Contact Us went to a 404 error page.

Have you renewed your EasyBlog license with a discount yet? Contact us now.

A couple of notes:

  • Don't update from the updater - it will hose your site. Instead make sure that you first uninstall EBlog. [/*]
  • If you have Komento installed, uninstall and reinstall to the latest version. If not, your site will be likewise hosed.[/*]

Thanks for sharing this Paul. There was an issue with the earlier versions of EasyBlog which resulted in the incorrect download of files via updater.

Upgrading major releases from 3.8.x or older to 3.9.x should never been done on the Updater. Will update the blog post.

I echo Paul's earlier comments.
If you try to use the EasyBlog updater it destroys the EasyBlog installation on the site. Likewise it destroys the Komento installation. It just hangs on the second stage of updating the Foundry.
I had to use the standard Joomla installer to get it to install, and then reinstall Komento as well !
I did NOT however have to uninstall EasyBlog, as the updater seems to have done a good job of destroying the table entries for Komento and EasyBlog on its own!

Thanks Geoff, we have taken down our updater server temporarily as it looks like the earlier versions was problematic when it comes to detecting a "major" update on our javascript framework.

Do EasyBlog 9 work with Komento 1.6.3883? Paul says that Komento should also be uninstalled and then reinstalled. Should I do that with the same version of Komento?

Only if you went through the "Updater" process earlier as there was some issues with the updater (for older versions of EasyBlog). If you are using the normal installation process, it's perfectly fine.

Very exciting to see the StackIdeas staff ramping up with new releases of their existing extensions to support EasySocial integration. Keep up the good work.

Zafer, ref the second part of your question above, i suggest if you uninstall Komento v 1.6.3883 you should install v 1.6.3949

It is always best to install the latest version after uninstalling any component.

I have uninstalled all Stackideas components (except EasySocial as it is fine) after the EB update error and installed the latest versions.

First issue with v3.9?

http://stackideas.com/forums/since-i-upgraded-to-easyblog-v3-9x

I used the extension installer to install it, not the updater. I've never used the updater....ever.

Can you please give more details on what is meant by "Company postings on LinkedIn"? Thanks!

Danni, it simply means that you can now automatically post to your company pages on LinkedIn

Great, thanks! For some reason I thought this was already a feature.

Ah I see. Nope, because initially LinkedIn didn't allowed posting to Company pages in their API.

Jumped with joy to read in the email integration into LinkedIn company pages. But can I find any detail/documentation on it. Of course not. Can't even find any amended functionality within the backend settings either. Have I missed something?

Hello Paul,

When you access the LinkedIn settings you need to authorize your account first. Once it is authorized, you should see a list of your pages on your LinkedIn settings page. Similar like Facebook, but instead of entering the id manually, just select the Company page that you would like to post to.

We'll be updating the documentation really soon

After upgrading to 3.9, Tweet button is sending wrong language codes to Twitter (the message appears like "%E3%83%96%E3%83%AD,,,,").

Is this because language pack does not work for 3.9? Or, other problem?

Anyway, can I downgrade to 3.8 by overwriting 3.8 on 3.9?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hm, strange issue but please do post them in our ticketing system at https://crm.stackideas.com or our forums at http://stackideas.com/forums/ . We'll have it checked.

Yep, you can downgrade by installing 3.8 on top of 3.9
