Why does EasyBlog not use Joomla's inbuilt Tag system?

In my quest to have as much integration of all my software so I do not have 3 different programs all doing the same thing I noticed that the tags in EasyBlog do not show up in the Tag system of Joomla.

Is there a reason for this? Are these systems too different?
