When using remote publishing via email is it possible to make the attached image become the blog image s

I am successful remote publishing via email. However when viewing a list of blogs (such as in the listing module), locally generated items are shown with a blog image thumbnail but emailed articles do not have the image in the listing. The image is in the article when viewed in full and is in the Facebook and Twitter auto-published copies.
