Using Composer to edit or create posts in frontend

I have set the Easyblog composer as my editor of choice. In the back end, I have no difficulty editing or creating posts. However, if I try (as superuser or administrator) to edit or create new posts in the front end, none of the buttons are active (eg add block, remove block, update post, etc) and the side panel is blank so I have no formatting options.

I have checked permissions...where else would I go to activate the use of the composer in the front end?

Thanks,
Andrew
