User groups able to see categories without permissions

I have a category that is only visible to one user group, however other user groups are able to see it in the Recent posts view (including the preview text). When they click to go through, it says there is a broken link or they don't have permissions.

Is there a way to prevent it showing up in the Recent tab completely? The category isn't visible in the Category or Forum view.
