upgrading joomla and easyblog - really need export/import feature

i need an import tool BADLY. there are times i need to move sites around and start from scratch but don't want to lose my content. the lack of this feature kills me at times.

for now, i have a site on joomla 2.5.x and an old easyblog setup and i need them updated BADLY just to continue to add functionality to their site. i want to setup joomla 3.5.4 from scratch, install easyblog and then import from the old site to the new one.

is there simply no way this is possible w/o database manipulation? i'm not comfortable with that at all so how much would it cost to create the site and then ask you to move my articles over? i'd MUCH rather have an import/export feature but otherwise, i love the software. but this makes it a serious flaw in trying to update a friends site.

i'm hesitant to simply upgrade to 3.5.4 because i'm not sure what easyblog will do.

i'll want to update to the latest of easyblog and am licensed for that - but if that for 1 site and 1 site only, or just 1 site supported?

any suggestions or help you can provide to get me to 3.5.4 so i can "do more" with the site appreciated. this has been ignored for awhile and the ladies running it happy, but i need to add to it and update some other modules that simply don't work on 2.5.x.
