Timezone complexity!

I looked around and saw that this has been reported for awhile now, but I figured that more voices never hurts!

I've had users complaining to me that the timezone menu is very confusing, as it lists all of the major cities on a continent and has the user scroll through to try and figure out which city is closest to them. It would be much easier to have timezones listed as the regional timezones (EST, PST, GMT, etc), to have a search, or to have it as a menu that opens up additional options (like selecting United States from a drop-down which spawns a new drop-down that has the different timezones in that country).

I had a user ask me how to locate Canada (as they live in the westernmost part of Canada) and I had to inform them that it lists by continent and not by country, and that they would need to scroll through America to find the city closest to them.

Is there a way to adjust this? :)
