Hello:
We are finalizing the organization of a forum. Our client is hoping to set up main categories as containers with subcategories. Each subcategory requires different access for its User Groups.
For instance:
Main category
Sub - Category 1 - User Group A
Sub - Category 2 - User Group B
Sub - Category 3 - User Group C
However, when I set up permissions, using User A as an example, they login and only see their category as Sub - Category 1. Once they have selected the category at the top of the page , a breadcrumb menu appears showing Main category > Sub - Category 1.
But, if they select the Main category link, the other sub-categories appear. They cannot edit in them, but the client wishes that User A only sees. Sub - Category 1.
In order for the user to see the subcategory, they must be able to see the main category therefore they have to be granted permissions along with the other user groups. By doing this, they can now see the other categories. Obviously, if I do not let them see the main category, then they cannot see the sub-categories.
The next thing I noticed that although they cannot post to the other sub categories, they can subscribe to it. WE like the subscription option, but only where permitted. They should not be able to subscribe to a subcategory they should not have permissions to.
I may not be setting this up correctly, reviewed documentation, tried different options. I would appreciate your assistance.
Also, I have reset all the subcategories to main for now until I hear back from you.
