Profiles not found when using the search bar

Site details:

Joomla 3.4.5
EasySocial 1.4.5

When we search for members, we don't find them using the search that's included in the easySocial toolbar or when we use the Search module.
Most times we can still find these members when using the advanced search but sometimes even the Advanced search will also not find anything.

I am a bit confused....I would have thought that the search bar will find all members based on the first few letters typed in.

For example, I am logged in to the Dashboard as Administrator:
I want to search for a profile called Wicked.
In the backend I can see that I have 12 profiles with the word wicked in them, of which 1 profile is actually called wicked.

Expected behavior:
When typing wicked into the search bar, I expect to see 12 profiles found
When using Advanced search, I expect to see only 1 profile found, since the criteria used is "equal to"

Actual result
When I type Wicked into the search bar, the search bar shows only 1 image found (I have ticked all options). No member profiles are listed.
Sometimes when I enter the other usernames in the search bar, the profile WILL be found, so its not a consistent thing.
Using advanced search, I get 1 result which is Wicked
