Pre purchase question

Hi I am interested in purchasing Easy Social, However a friend of mine has it and the only thing that is stopping me from going ahead is that on his which is version 1.4.12 he doesn't seem to be able to remove the news feed side bar (Everyone, me and friends, bookmarks pinned etc) If you cannot remove these then I will have to look at something else (I wish to put my own custom modules in those positions). I am hoping it is possible as it would suit my needs brilliantly.

If it can be removed is it an "easy" job. We have spent hours scouring through the backend and can find nowhere to remove said side bar
