plurial used in stream post even with only one updated profil ? or users name are missing ?

Hello,

I have 2 different stream post about "users that have updated their profile" in the dashboard
one with the text "username updated his profile"
and the other with "username updated their profile"

why the plural is used if there is only one user... ?
or maybe the other user's names are missing in the text ??
