Notifications to a specified group

The situation that I'm trying to fulfill is to have a forum for a private group of people. I created an access level and group and assigned the users to the group. This particular forum should get email notifications to this small group specifically when a new topic is created and when a reply is made to the topic. I can't figure out how to set this up. Is it even possible? I expect that it is.
