Profiles in ES is an incredible feature to create different memberships and users profiles like users, companies, shops, etc.
For real users friendship and followship make sens to use, not specially for non-physical users like companies.
As you requested us new features i suggest moving this kind of "social" features from general options to Profiles options to enable and disable them per kind of user.
