Me & Friends in News Feed?

I'm curious as to why my activity and friends activity was combined into a single feed view? I'm not trying to dock on the idea, but I would like to have a better understanding of why it was designed this way. Right now I can access my own feed posts by looking at my profile. But the friends one has both mine and friends? From what I understand (assume) it might make it more difficult to view friends activity if mine are mixed in it as well.

Just wondering.
