Is there a way to eliminate or have a 'timed' limit on certain updates in the activity stream?

Hello all,

I am finding that when users are updating blog posts, changing photos around in a post, editing a post, etc. that each time they save or apply changes to the post they are working on, it shows up in the ES activity stream- 'Jane Doe updated blog post titled A Day In The Life Of Dick And Jane'. It can overwhelm the activity stream to see several updates from one person in a matter of minutes.

Is there any way to eliminate (or limit in some fashion) these update notifications in the activity stream?
