Helix II framework and Joomlaman, or just use ProtoStar?

I am considering moving away from T3v3 and Joomlart because of lack of/stoneage "support" to Helix II framework and possibly using Joomlaman, who intend to design a template specifically for EasySocial.

Any thoughts on Helix II as a suitable framework and Joomlaman templates?

Is it ok to install the Helix II framework, modules and a template in Joomla 3.2 if T3v3, modules and template are still installed?

I know it is not a Stackideas product question, but any thoughts from anyone appreciated.
