Friends vs friends + following : is there a difference in the notifications you get ?

Hi,

This is not a issus, I was just wondering about something.

At the moment i only use friends system and so the followers system has been turned off.

Are my users missing out on notifications ? i mean, when you follow a friend do you get different (more) notifications about there activity/comments etc than when you are only friends or are the notifications the same ?

This is not a priority question at all
