The Joomla updater notifies me of new versions of ES and works. 
However the ES backend module does not seem to pick up on new versions of ES. As seen in the attached screen shot ES 2.0.16 is not the latest version. For the sake of seeing this issue live I kept my test site at version 2.0.16.
