Duplicate fields on search page

Currently on the search page there are duplicates of the two fields that you can see in the attachment. I believe the reason for this is because I have two profile types but both with the same custom fields. Is there any way to consolidate this to one searchable field. So that when I search by field it displays all users and not have seperate search fields for each profile type?
