Displayg values from a custom field in the user's Profile introduction box

Hi,
in the future I want to display custom badges based on a custom field I have. I know this cannot be done yet. I wondered, is there any way of displaying my custom field values in the Introduction box that appears on a profile page?

I basically want to display certificates held and as this cannot be done with badges/images I thought the next best thing would be to show the values from a custom field multi checklist.
I know it can be set to visible in the profile area but is this possible within the Introduction box that appers on the user's profile page?
