Customizing a welcome message to a new user who signs up?

Hi there, After a user signs up to my site using easysocial is there anyway to tailor a custom signup message to the user? Like a custom welcome message or a specific message to say download a pdf or something like this? Maybe there is an extension for this possibly? Any help would be much appreciated.
