Customize app names in side panel of profile?

How do I customize the names of apps as they appear in the side panel of the profile? I changed the app name in the backend, but its not reflected in that side panel menu. See image attached. I've changed the name of the "Mosets Tree" app to "Directory Listing" in the backend because my users aren't going to know what "Mosets Tree" is, however, as you can see in the screenshot the name change isn't reflected on the side panel of the user profile display.
