Custom field autocomplete

Hi,

i am member of a social network (home made with phython), i like how they handle the profiles fields,
i a the "Software" field when we start taping the system show all existing software names wich start with same letters, the SI team already integrated that in custom fields but we must enter all choices !

there is perhaps a way to query the database tables to get the existing choices already entered by users !
