Custom composer template not saving my selected category

Hi,

I have created a custom template for the composer and have created some custom fields to go in it. I need this template to be used on a single category only, so I de-selected the default category, and placed a check in my desired category, thinking every time I use this template, my new category will be the default.

However when I come to use the template, it has reverted back to the default category. Is this the correct behavior?

Ideally I want the template to open with the category I want, as this has the custom fields attached. How do i make it open the correct category every time as it doesn't seem to same my choice in the newly created template?
