Response Time

We updated our blog to the latest version and it's now not working and seems to bring down our entire website when someone clicks one on the blog links. Can someone take a look.
We either get;
504 Gateway Time-out
nginx
or
upstream timed out (110: Connection timed out) while reading response header from upstream
I have had to revert to a previous mysql backup removing my last blog post and then the system works again and my previous blog posts show up. If I then create a new blog post with test data, just title and 50 characters of text, the system breaks again and no previous blog posts work and it again brings down the website
