Create an event without event creator being automatically added as an attendee?

For our purposes we have a couple people creating events for our organization, but the people creating events often are not attending the events that they are creating. For example when Linda creates an event for a church men's meeting, she is automatically added as attending. Is there a setting to NOT add event creators as attendees? Thank you.
