Could not instantiate mail function issue and cronjobs

Hi guys, i have a problem when a user register to my easysocial. The registration process works properly but when the registration is completed this message appears: "Could not instantiate mail function". How can i fix this ?

What cronjobs are necessary for the maintenance of the easysocial and easyblog ?
