Currently when starting a conversation there appears to be no way to directly go to the profile of the recipient you contacted. In the screen shot attached I highlighted the text that should be a link instead of just text.
Even if that person did reply, it makes a lot of sense to make the recipient's name up top link to their profile.
To replicate this:

You will notice that you cannot easily access that member's profile due to the text not linking.
