Community Builder too Easy Social migration

Hello Support

I am trying to get my head around the CB too Easy Social Migration process. I believe that I understand the concept of mapping. It is for me a little bit like a translation from one language to another. Eg “Schwarz” is german for “Black” and “Weiß” is german for “White” However between black and white there are also many shades of grey!

Let me take a couple of simple examples.

eg 01 (?Lost in Translation?)

Status in the CB world means online/offline
As far as I can understand in the Easy Social world this means something else.
In Easy Social/Profiles/General : there is something called “Published Status”

So I am guessing in this case status does not equal status.
Or in other words in this e.g., ***Multiselect*** is not the same as ***Multilist***

If I understand this correctly. This will and can not be mapped correctly. And this is why the row is white and not green.

So good so far 01?

e.g. 02 (?Green for Go?)

I have in CB a field called cb_howlong. This enables a user to say how long they have been working for. e.g. ;

01-05 years,
05-10 years,
10-15 years,
etc.

In CB this field is a drop down ***Multiselect*** which I would have guessed is the same as ***Multilist*** in ES.

The migrator marks this Green which I assume means that every thing is OK!

So good so far 02?

e.g. 03 (?White for No BUT WHY?)

Here I have a field called cb_location. This enables a user to write where they live. e.g. Berlin 12047. In CB this field is a ***Text*** which I would have guessed is the same as ***Textbox*** in ES.

The migrator leaves this White which I assume means that every thing is not OK!?!

See I do not understand this case study (B) below!

Switching to Textarea Field does note help. Switching to Text Filed does not help. This row remains white!

So good so far 03?

e.g. 04 (?White for No BUT WHY?)

Here I have a field called cb_formats. This enables a user to say where they have been working. e.g. ;

Television,
Web,
Cinema,
etc.

In CB this field is a ***Multiselect*** which I would have guessed is the same as a ***Multilist*** in ES.

The migrator leaves this White which I assume means that every thing is not OK!?!

This is the point at which my understanding breaks down. (If not before ;-)

See I do not understand this case study (A) below!

(A) I do not understand why

in e.g. 02 ***Multiselect*** EQUALS ***Multilist*** and is GREEN
BUT
in e.g. 04 ***Multiselect*** EQUALS ***Multilist*** and is NOT GREEN

(B) I do not understand why

in e.g. 03 mapping from ***Text*** to ***Textbox*** is WHITE.

I would have thought that this is simply moving a text from one identical field to the other. Like a copy and paste action!?!

I hope this makes sense and does not drive you guys nuts. Sorry about the capital letters and stars, I am simply trying to make this all as clear as possible. Maybe just maybe this will be useful for some other people migrating in the future.

My Goal. Put as simply as possible. I am trying to have profiles where people have a name, web site and about me section. And 3 searchable fields. Tools of trade, how many years experience and where they live. The first 2 are lists and the last one is a text.

thanks in advance

Paul
