Change the main color in the text in Elegant.

Hello,
I want to change the blue color in the fonts of Elegant to red. Surfing the Elegant forum I found that I can di adding something like this in my custom.css:

a {

    color: #ff0000 !important;

}

Is just on this way?
I tried but I can't get the changes.
