Category sorting is ignored

I am using the Blog Categories in my sidebar and trying to get it to display the categories in ascending order. I have set this in the module but it is just ignored. I tried sorting it in the backend but I cannot change the values in the sort order column. When i click on the sort icon it doesn't unlock for editing.
