Category Select now CheckBox rather than DropDown?

Hi, in the last couple of days my ISP requested an upgrade of Joomla, Easyblog and PHP. It appears that the Category DropDown in WritePost has changed to CheckBoxes. Is this so?

My users can no longer assign a post to a subcategory.
