In the back-end of editing an event category.. custom fields tab... there is a advice message at the top that says...
"For each profile type, you can assign a different registration work flow for the user. All you need to do is to add the fields or steps that you want into the form."
Presumably that's from the user profile types screens and is meant to say something different for events?
