Vanilla Template

Vanilla Template

In line with EasySocial 2.1 and Voyager development, the team also agreed to release our own in-house social template concurrently. We decided to call it, Vanilla.

Our designers have carefully crafted and calculated pixel by pixel to ensure that the columns and white spaces used were just right, not too wide and not too narrow, hence giving Vanilla a contemporary vibe. Apart from it being a social template, it seems to be a perfect fit for intranet sites as well.

Some cool features in Vanilla:

  • Contemporary and clean design
  • Lightweight
  • SEO friendly
  • Responsive for mobile devices
  • Compatible across all our Joomla extensions

Here's a little sneak peek of Vanilla:

Yup, pre-orders for Vanilla template also begins today for only $39, which is a one time payment only. The retail price will be revised again as soon as Vanilla hits the store on our site. So, get it quick while it's at a special early bird price now. :)

Another fine stand-alone template! - You asked for suggestions, I have at least one.
I would hope that more development could be made on 'Custom Css' files that a person could 'buy' that would change the appearance of items, icons, even colors of the installation of the stackideas on 'any' template..

Looks awesome guys, i love it !
I like the integration of SI extensiuons menus in the general menu under search.
it create a dynamic menu which is changing when we are moving to another extensions (discussions blog..)

Is it compatible with Easydiscuss ? i mean it will enhance the discussions pages with a nicer layout ?

any idea when it will be released ?

Yes, certainly We plan to have some super styling with EasyDiscuss with Vanilla.

Vanilla is an interesting template because it will be the standard templating structure for all of our extensions. The reason we are creating this is mainly so that we can understand how template club works and try to ensure that our extensions could be easily customized by template clubs.

Little suggestion :

An fixed action button to create content
i already seen that here but dont remeber where.
A floating button when we click on it it open little menu to create content from ED, EB, Videos, ..
would be great if we can add actions to it.

I would love to have a template from you that also supported some sort of megamenu idea so I could use it on a site that has child and even grandchild menu items.

Thanks for the input on this Sean. By the way, you have been preaching about the megamenu for a while, but I don't really get how megamenu would render subcategories. Perhaps if you could post this in the forums about your idea of megamenu, that would be most appreciated.

Perhaps a MegaMenu is not what I really need. The main thing is to be able to have people see the content in a sub-menu without having to click on the parent item. I will try to describe it better in the forum. Thanks for asking.

Beautiful! I'm in for this one. Looks great from the screenshots. Congratulations.

Will configuration settings allow the top 2 lines (the top menu, and the row below it with the ES notification icons) be fixable to the top of wide screens as people scroll down?

Beautiful template

Will the submenu of EasySocial be expandable with its own links? And there is the possibility to create submenus for your own article pages.

Best regards

I guess he means "are the submenus automatically generated by the component(s) (like a customized toolbar css) or do you have to create every submenu item(s) in the joomla menu manager?"

It would actually follow the site's menu structure. If you have a submenu, it would then display a dropdown

Hey Andy,

We don't have the release date yet but we'll let you know when we do The whole idea of the pre-order is because we are opening it up at a much cheaper price than the usual $59 when it is available.

I have a better idea for Vanilla !
A fixed toolbar that disappears by scrolling down, and that reappears as soon as you scroll up.
An excellent example with this site: http://www.numerama.com

Thank you Mark.
I decided to buy this new template.

Ah, I'm glad you like this Mark !
I see more and more this type of menu and I find it very practical.
Indeed it does not disturb the navigation.
The visitor no longer needs to go back to the top of the page to access the menu, the menu comes to him.

You will now have the ability to upload logos in the template settings. So you don't have to insert a module just for that.

OK I've pre-purchased Vanilla

Hoping that allows me to put in a little feature suggestion / request.. I've added a big 'Hello' module position in the photoshopped screenshot I've posted at.. Sample Image

It would be beautiful if the template would allow this kind of prominent message - either as a big bold text based message for whatever page it went on, or a beautifully styled image scroller.. perhaps being able to pull images from a given ES photo album. Oooo... that would be nice.

So many sites use an image scroller as their eye-candy... would be lovely to drop one into Vanilla here and have it all nicely styled and working with an ES photo album. Oh boy... or perhaps picking up (from the module parameters) event (or page / profile / group) covers based on their featured status, or ID numbers... and with the click through to those pages being possible.

The slideshow module settings could by 'Show Featured Events? Y/N' 'Show Featured Pages? Y/N' etc etc

Oh wow, wouldn't that be astounding?

what if this module position could automatically show the blog post cover from easysocial blogs too
or it is used for the profile cover image on the profile view itself - this could the default behavior for all covers (group, event, album ...) from easysocial

Hello,

May I please offer one more suggestion/request: In this template, would you please provide separate style sheets that contain only the css for the components (in addition to the single, minified version)? If I remember correctly, I think that one of the other Stackideas templates included only one minified css file for everything (template and components). It would be helpful if separate style sheets were provided, so that if we're already using a different template, we can still add the css for the components inside our custom css override file. In other words, by separating the css for the components from the css for the template, it makes it more adapatable to various scenarios. The Vanilla (and Chocolate ) design is neutral, so it would be cool to be able to simply copy/paste the style for the components (as distinct from the style of the template) into a css override file, without having to worry about css conflicts at the overall template level.

Thank you

And if Vanilla was like Facebook, with a mobile zone for component (with scrolling possibility), and around a fixed frame (menu and modules positions) ?
Like on Facebook on desktop view.

Hi,

I love the way you've designed the navigation. It's very user-friendly, consistent across components, and offers plenty of room for additional links. In addition, the close attention to detail really paid off: It's clear, uncluttered, and easy to read.

Thanks again

Hi there, it looks great as always. I do have one bug bear that I always see on all of these social network type templates. The issue I have is social network templates need a great login page / registration page and I never seen this being done well. LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook have simple clean and easy to follow login pages and this is really important and should be given lots of attention - a link in a menu as a dropdown is not good enough and this is the reason none of the big players in this space do this. Also when you do login the homepage of the site should go away, it should not be the homepage when logged into the network - the dashboard should be the homepage when logged in - again I have tried this for years and no matter which way you do it - joomla tends to not play nicely there. I know we can all blame joomla for this but I would love to see a true login page being built into these templates that covers all the basis and also a proper way when logged in to hide the homepage of the site and not through a menu item hide as because if the user is logged in and goes back to the main url of the site they get a 503 or 404 error. So I would like to see a template that really does give a proper login page as I for one have spent the most time on this area of the site frankly. Looks good but getting in and out of the network is an issue and joomla does not help of course. Thanks

Hey James,

Thanks for your input on this! Much appreciated. The biggest issue that we have designing great registration page is mainly because of the unpredictability of custom fields that site owners chooses to use

Moving forward, we are going to throw some crazy ideas but vanilla would be our base in that sense because we are exploring with something really new here

hi mark,

as posted many times - all the SI Extensions are great and the templates too.
all the templates are still more or less facebookstyle. But i still something new or different .

may you can bring back the styling like tigracon did, or bring back the iconnect, or something like jomwall.
for me its still better to wait and get all from one hand.

best regards

Hello
I want to suggest that most of the template do not have google analytics code embedded form in admin back-end. Adjustable template frame and more other features in back-end admin.
I like the template http://www.rockettheme.com. The template base on Gantry Framework.
I hope for future release, Stackideas team can cooperate with Rocket Theme.

Thanks for your input on this However, I do have a different stand on this because the more settings that are given on the template, the more processing that is to be done when rendering the template. This means more time taken to render the layout of your site.

Having said that, I do agree that they are pretty flexible. We'll be posting more about vanilla in the coming days
