Hello Conversekit

Hello Conversekit

Are you expecting for more sneak peeks of EasySocial 2.0? Well, this could wait a little! I am super thrilled to be introducing you to one of our baby projects that we have been working on concurrently with EasySocial 2.0.

Hello, meet Conversekit.

Why Conversekit?

Ever since the first version of EasySocial was launched, we received countless requests on building a conversation system that works across the entire site. We thought that this addition to the family would help site owners build rock solid community and allow users to be more engaging.

Not another monthly subscription chatting plugin?

Nope. It's simply just a small plugin which you install on your site and it evolves into a super cool conversation system just like those little Pokemon that you've caught (just kidding). It inherits most of the functionality from the Conversations in EasySocial 2.0.

Is Conversekit resource hungry?

Conversekit was designed to be lightweight, easy-to-use and overall enhancing any social networking experience. Before even releasing this, we have refactored it over 4 times. Can you imagine?

Will there be a million settings for this plugin?

Absolutely not. We learn from our mistakes and there will be very minimal settings for the plugin. Just a simple button to start your conversation or conversations :)

When will this be ready?

We don't have a definite timeline yet, as we are still running very thorough tests on performance tuning and optimization. I would say it's most likely after EasySocial 2.0

Okay, enough of the Q&A, it's getting boring. Here are some of the screenshots which were prepared by our in-house designers exclusively for you. I would really appreciate some of your comments on this baby!

    hi mark :)
VERY PROMISING ADD ON FOR EASYSOCIAL
i was in dilemma of choosing between stackideas easysocial and other joomla social components. Now it seems choosing easysocial 2.0 would be better decision :) Please also try to implement voice and video chat in conversekit to make it complete chat solution and please post a blog post on ECHO template with screenshots. so i kill my dilemma completely :D and becomes a part of stackideas family :)
    BEST WISHES :)

    Questions:

    - Does it actually sync with EasySocial Conversations or is it simply piggy backing off of it?
    - Does it integrate with all of the StackIdeas products such as EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss and Komento as well? Specifically Conversations (EasyDiscuss), Avatars, Profile Linking?
    - Does it integrate with EasySocial or EasyDiscuss Notifications Systems?
    - Do you plan on adding any type of Push Notification System?
    - Are there plans to Integrate with any type of Advert System?
    - Do you have a beta team available for this product yet that can offer real insight to what is needed or not?
    - Do you have a Price Point already in mind?

    - Does it actually sync with EasySocial Conversations or is it simply piggy backing off of it?

It currently synchronizes (permanently) and piggy backing off EasySocial 2 (temporarily)

    - Does it integrate with all of the StackIdeas products such as EasyBlog, EasyDiscuss and Komento as well? Specifically Conversations (EasyDiscuss), Avatars, Profile Linking?

It currently only works with EasySocial 2 out of the box.

    - Does it integrate with EasySocial or EasyDiscuss Notifications Systems?

    EasySocial 2 yes :)

    - Do you plan on adding any type of Push Notification System?

    Yes

    - Are there plans to Integrate with any type of Advert System?

I was thinking of having SocialAds from Techjoomla.

    - Do you have a beta team available for this product yet that can offer real insight to what is needed or not?

We don't have a beta team yet but looking forward to build one.

    - Do you have a Price Point already in mind?

Not at this point of time. Any suggestions? :)

PRice for me would be below 30 USD.

    - I would recommend also integrating with EasyDiscuss Conversations and Notifications in the future, this adds more flexibility and targets a broader audience. Joomla only offers a couple of real forums, Kunena and EasyDiscuss and a couple of "lesser forums" so integrating throughout is advised.
    - I'm not saying "DON'T" integrate with SocialAds from TechJoomla but if it was me I would try and do something of your own as a base with limited features and then allow them to do their own 3rd Party Integration. I feel as do many others they have too many products to support and don't typically deliver a very SOLID product to begin with so I am thinking bugs, bugs, bugs...
    - If your open to allow Beta Testers I would volunteer myself and time, this would work great for an Intranet Project I am working on for my company and am currently using CometChat which I am not a fan of. However this rolls into some other topics for discussion. I chose CometChat because they have the following additional resources which I doubt are part of your Roadmap: Desktop Messenger for both Windows and Mac, Apple and Android Apps, White Labeling...
    - Regarding Pricing, I would review the competition and put myself below them especially if your not able to offer the same feature set.

I'm totally agree with James about SocialAds.

TechJoomla products are really not at the height of Stackideas. They have too many extensions, so they are overwhelmed.
The rhythm of SocialAds is too slow. This product is not functional. The interface is exceeded. :(

I dream of a advertisement extension proposed by Stackideas ! :o
To allow users to promote their content through the site, in the manner of publications sponsored of Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Advertising is vital to a community site, especially to pay Stackideas licences. ;)

Mark, why not incorporate an advertisement system in membership feature provided for EasySocial 2.1 ?

Agreed, i dont like techjoomla extensions and also the NEW mobile apps, hope SI team will have its own products and apps.

  • Mark

I will try to initiate a discussion with the guys at Techjoomla / AppCarvers when they are around.

I have to be brutal honest about venturing into advertisement systems, we have almost zero (zilch) experience in the "advertisement area" and there are guys that already have experience in those area. For instance, Techjoomla, iJoomla .

Venturing into a blackhole is not something that we can spare right now :(

  • Philippe

Thank you Mark for your response.

The membership feature set for EasySocial 2.1 maybe could incorporate that ?
Depending on the membership plan, EasySocial publications and EasyBlog articles would not have the same visibility (featured).
It would be a good start ;)

Noted, our end goal is to have Conversekit work without any certain dependencies on any extensions at all. We will integrate conversekit with as many extensions (even our competitors as well)

I will definitely have a discussion with the guys from Techjoomla to see what actually is going on in their end. Haven't been catching up with them lately as I have been too occupied with ES2 and I do apologize for that.

    Looks great great feature.

I agree with all the other people not to use socialads by techjoomla. I use it on one of my sites and I was thinking a few weeks ago I wish that stackideas would build a component of there own to do the same thing and intergrate better this easysocial, easyblog and easysocial.

Jomsocial has there own adagency stackideas needs easyads.

That do you think Mark? I think the other commenters would agree with me on this.

Can't wait to hear your feedback on this idea.

    All the best Adam

Always something new and exciting happening ;)

What are the permanent/temporary ways in which this fits into the mobile world, particularly understanding that:

    • it's (temporarily) piggy-backing on EasySocial[/*]
    • browsers are on all mobile phones[/*]
    • currently limited by only (1?) vendor of an EasySocial 'mobile app' [/*]

Curious if this has long term plans to be stand alone? I.e. On a site that is not a social sit, but say for a web team ? Or on a site that simply doesn't need Eastsocial but would like a chat feature?

Also will it be mobile friendly?

  • Mark

How do you see this integrating with Cometchat, I went with Cometchat because of its chat functions and that it can be a mobile app on multiple platforms and this is great actually. I would love to see tight integration here to be honest because of course I do not see you guys going to an app just yet for android and iphone.

  • Akashlal

James, I guess Cometchat already integrates with easysocial?

Stackideas, you outdid it again :D
The design looks cool, it could also be modified slightly to get a livechat component and could open up a new market for you :)
And yeah, If you are looking for beta testers, you know where to find me :p

Hi it would be good to have conversekit as a separate module that could be used in parts of the site where ES is not running.

  • Mark

It will run on any page on your site but EasySocial just needs to be installed on the site :)

  • Richard

Always a fan of anything you do guys and developing Chat/Advertising features for EasySocial is another positive step (Conversekit looks good).

I have not tried SocialAds so cannot comment on the product, but I avoided it as I too believe TJ resources are stretched and at the high price it was too big a risk, so as suggested in previous posts look at developing in-house or linking with a different 3rd party supplier, even if there are not as many features (I used the JReviews Classifieds Addon as it suited my requirements).

CometChat is the only decent multi-featured Chat option available to us at the moment, is still developing and hopefully once they complete their planned overhaul of the support process and improve a few other areas it will reach the level of Stackideas, so I will watch with interest how Conversekit develops to see if it is worth switching Chat options at some point in the future.

Good luck with this and I am also looking forward to EasySocial 2.0....:)

    What a wonderfull news.
It's great to have an all site private messaging and discussion system.
Can't wait to see how it will work with user lists and groups

    About integration :
ES can already be integrated in kunena for discussion so i guest it'll continue to work.

Big applause to all the team
looking forward to EasySocial 2.0 and the plugin

I have three suggestions for the new product:

    1. "Show more conversations" button should be near the bottom to be consistent with other paginations. After all, seeing your first results are usually a higher priority than loading more.

    2. Consider having the "Show more conversations" have the possibility of a load on scroll just like stream items in EasySocial. This way the user does not have to do more clicks.

    3. Have a way to have the chat module show online friends so that we can quickly chat with our friends who are actively online. This makes for quicker communication. Depending on how it's currently setup this would either show automatically or after uncollapsing the chat button.

Currently the sneak peek photos do not show the chat box message field where the chats/conversations take place. Perhaps that is a surprise for us? :)

  • Mark

Thanks for the input on this Josh :) In the slide up, there's a couple of filters that you could click on to view your friends.

    YIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIISSS!!

I've been waiting for this since day 1 of Easysocial! Can't believe you guys are making this happen! Wooop!

If you make this plugin work with ES, EB and ED I don't care how much you'll charge, I'll buy it!

Great to see this coming our way! Best joomla team ever!

  • Sylvie

Thank you Benoit! Unfortunately, at this point of time Conversekit will only work if EasySocial is installed on your site. However, as Mark has mentioned before, we are planning to make it as a standalone app in the future. :)

We are still running more internal tests to ensure a smoother and greater experience with Conversekit :)

The last thing that we want to release now is a buggy app, which leads to more support that takes up all of our time.
