Hey guys, it has been a while since we blogged about the progress of EasySocial 1.4 and I have to admit that it's our misjudgement over the progress of EasyBlog 5. Nonetheless, we are almost done with EasyBlog 5 now and the entire team will now be focusing on EasySocial 1.4 and EasySocial 2.0.
Initially, we were thinking of revamping the entire layout in EasySocial 1.4 but later decided that we should move these layout changes within EasySocial 2.0 instead. It is a separate milestone and it is being worked on by a separate team. It contains plenty of UX / UI / resource changes including the way our javascript libraries are being rendered. We will not be including these changes on EasySocial 1.4 because these changes are too major and we do not want to affect users who have already been working on the existing layout.
Videos is one of the key features in EasySocial 1.4 as it allows site members to be able to upload videos as well as link external videos within EasySocial. With the new EasySocial 1.4, you will be able to upload videos, share some info about the video (description, location etc) and categorize them accordingly. There's also an option to 'feature' a video; making it easy for you to show off any cool videos that you have created.

In EasySocial 1.4, we have also enhanced the functionality of the comments throughout EasySocial by allowing users to upload pictures and also able to select smileys when commenting on the site. Currently the smileys are already pre-defined with the installation of EasySocial 1.4. However, we do have plans on allowing admins to have their own smileys by uploading their own emoticon files. This will be available in the future, after we've released EasySocial 1.4. :)
Pictorial comments can be enabled or disabled by the site's administrators from the backend. Check out the screenshots :
Another new feature that we've added in the up-coming EasySocial 1.4, polls will allow users to create their own polls in EasySocial without having to have a third-party apps and/or component. Polls' are done straight from the story box itself and will have the option to have as many options as they want. Users will also have the option to set the privacy of their polls.

We have also improvised and standardized the back end layout to be in synchronize with EasyBlog 5 and Komento 2.0 as well. One of our main goal is to ensure that all of our products are integrated both in terms of usability and feel. The backend design of Komento 2.0 and EasyBlog 5 provides users with a fresh feeling and ensure that everything looks beautiful without sacrificing the user-experience. We're implementing the same concept, the same design, and the same idea, to EasySocial 1.4's backend. Managing EasySocial's site will become easier with the up-coming EasySocial 1.4.

Custom fields are the cool feature that makes EasySocial so unique. As time progresses, we've added more custom field to ensure that our users are able to customize their site's details according to their own unique needs and preferences. With the up-coming EasySocial 1.4, we've refactored the custom field's code to ensure that anything and everything related to it runs smoother; from applying custom fields up to searching for the values.
The enhancement is actually under-the-hood hence I don't have any screenshot to share with you guys (sorry!) but you will feel the difference once you've upgraded to the new EasySocial 1.4.
Conversation also faces some updates; you can now message anyone in the site, even those who are not in your friend's list. This is reflected when you create a new message and type in the name of another user in the recipient field. Apart from that, the Conversation page were also given a minor update on styling in order to give you a more elegant feel whenever you strike a conversation with users in your site.
A cool new feature has been added to the photo albums in the up-coming EasySocial 1.4; we've added the option to set albums as "favorite". With this, the photo album will be shown in the photo album's widget instead of new photo albums. You can set multiple favourites so that these photo albums are shown in your Photo Album apps.
There are more updates on 1.4 but I shall probably stop here and will post more updates on EasySocial 1.4 in the coming days :)
Apart from the EasySocial 1.4 development update, we've also updated our demo site with all the latest version of our component. Not only that, we've set it up so that each component is well-integrated with the other. Visitors can now view the updated versions of our components and check on how the integration between each of them works. Do drop by and check it out!
