Introducing Minitek Wall For EasyBlog

Stack Ideas is privilege to have friends from Minitek to build a great tool, Minitek Wall for EasyBlog.

It is a powerful tool to create a diversity of masonry girds and scrollers. Not to mention, changing of layout was also made easy as it is customizable from the back-end of EasyBlog.

On top of that, Minitek Wall uses categories, tag filters, all types of sortings and AJAX pagination too.

You can easily customize the appearance of a Minitek Wall widget from the backend and change the layout, the sizes and the colors.

I found it's super easy to use and to display EasyBlog recent blog entries in amazing layout with just a few clicks!

What discount can those of us that already have Easyblog get with the discount code? Do we buy through you or direct?

Just copy the code and click the Get Minitek Wall Now. Then buy one of the paid versions and paste in the code. It works as I just tested it and it shows a discount applied. No need to buy EasyBlog if you already have it.

Hey there,

I believe Brian has already answered your question. If you already have EasyBlog license, all you have to do is head on over to Minitek and apply the same coupon code to purchase Minitek Wall.

Hi there, this looks like a promising extension. Can I ask if this is a little more than just design. for example my blog will have over 14 categories and all the categories would apply to very different user groups. So with that in mind I am looking for a solution whereby the user can choose the categories and filter by what they want and then most critically save this view for returning visits! if this possible?

Hi James:
I bought Minitek Wall. It has promise but currently I am finding it to come up overall lacking. You take a step back when you buy a product and and the first thing you see when you open it is one of the main features is tagged Under Construction. It comes with a large selection of preset layouts but they are very repetitive and there is no custom layout designer. I was also envisioning that you could change the overlay colors possibly by category. That isn't there either. Then...

It comes with a large selection of preset layouts but they are very repetitive and there is no custom layout designer. I was also envisioning that you could change the overlay colors possibly by category. That isn't there either. Then comes my biggest rub with the product. When you buy you get a 2 month subscription for an incomplete product. That really should be a minimum of 6 months or sold for the standard term of one year.

In a nutshell.. Neat product with potential.. However it is not ready for prime time.

I appreciate Mark bringing it to us as an option. I also hope he takes these issues up with the developers.

Hm, thanks for the input on this. We actually did ran some tests on the module and it seems to be working fine. Must have missed the "under construction part".

Hi James,

I'm really sorry for the delay in this reply. Here's Minitek's feedback on your question:

Minitek Wall respects user groups so that each user can only see the items that he has access to,
but there is no functionality that allows a user to save the filters selection for later views.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Sylvie, appreciate the feedback here and you reaching out. It is good that it respects the user groups in joomla and you can separate views based on that. I think ultimately what needs to happen here is for the user to have the ability to tailor the filters and that those filters are respects for that user. The user interface masonry wall effect is nice but there are a few ways to achieve this ultimately these days, I think the power is tailoring the user experience a little more and this would really make this powerful. For larger blogs and news sites the user wants to tailor what they view a bit like the flipboard model and this I feel would be a nice path to take. Who knows maybe this is already on the roadmap here. I think I will hold off until I see a little more power besides the look and feel. Looks very promising of course.

Hi James,
It sounds like an interesting idea. Could you give me some more details about how it should ideally work. I'll definitely consider it for future versions.

Hey there, I will try and outline the bones of it here and if you need anymore ideas around it feel free to email me or skype. Basically what you have looks great I feel and love the wall views and all the different formats you can choose for this. Therefore I think it would be a good fit for this type of idea. Easyblog is the best blogging extension by a long ways for joomla and does all the heavily lifting well and combing with your own extension it looks beautiful also. Where this idea comes in - is the user engagement part. Right now I know I could setup a page like the usual blog and have a latest blogs first, maybe an editors pick on the right and maybe the most popular in a module or something like this. Ideally on a large traffic site there are simply different audiences coming to the same blog and each time they need to filter and find a category but it would be very nice if these filters firstly had a memory at least a 30 day session. Even better is if there was a prompt after you made the filter choice to register and save this filter option so that everytime you visited the site then it would be saved for you - tailored to you - basically showing you the news categories you wanted and not everything. Flipboard would be a good example when you visit first you get a popup asking you to filter the news you want and then its saved until you make a change in settings. brilliant if you site has alot of categories or sections. People these days dont want to filter by category every time they come to a site, they want to get personalized feeds of the news they want to see and read. Hope this helps!

I see that in response they rushed out an update disabling the Under Construction portion. Do they have any reasoning behind the incredibly short subscription length?

As you know I am a big supporter of Value for Money.. Like we get with your products. At Minitek's current pricing structure I just don't see it. For the price of the standard module 6 months would be an acceptable amount of time for support and upgrades. We only intend to use this on one site not 4 so their up-sell at 10...

For the price of the standard module 6 months would be an acceptable amount of time for support and upgrades. We only intend to use this on one site not 4 so their up-sell at 10 Euros more to get 1 year of updates and 4 website licensing fails tragically.
If they don't make their pricing structure more equitable I for one will NOT be renewing.
